These are just rough ideas, I am certain I could come up with some great descriptions given the time, I

Haven’t spent a whole lot of time on this list other than jotting things down as I thought of them.

Monk additions ideas:

Primary thought: Monk Dojo/temple (like a guild): Where you can go to train in specific things such as

you can with a warrior guild and or rogue guild. Must be up on a mountain perhaps where it is always

cold outside.

1: Training tasks within the dojo:

- Plunging your hands into Hot coals

- Punching nails through wood

- Carrying water from a river back to the dojo

- Be struck by staves (harden skin)

- Break ice blocks

- Break wood

- Break stone

- Kick stumps (strengthen shins)

- Prolonged stretches with weights attached to body.

- Leaping from pole to pole different heights and distances (training for levitation)

2: Kata’s: (like wtricks) you perform some physical feat that looks pretty and may or may not be helpful,

acrobatics, feat of strength, like you would see real monks display.

- You move through a number of very strong movements, striking at the air as though it were an

enemy, ending with a flourish and a bow in the same location you were facing when you began.

- Feint, just like the warrior’s feint

- Yell and move through a series of very powerful movements, then break something.

- air walk/levitation: After so many trains you get “water walking” effect, and or appear to walk

just slightly above the ground. Or meditating while floating (monk prayers)

- Someone hits you with a stave in a number of places (requires interaction with someone else)

- You perform an acrobatic style rotine while swinging around a weapon or your hands and feet.

Obviously embellished a bit more.

- Weather resistances/tollerances by training in those specific weather extremes.

- Kata’s final step I would think would be to be able to make monk ropes (chest, wrist, ankle),

robes, gloves/handwraps, or sandals/footwraps.

4: Fu Stances

- Monkey- a focus on kicking

- Tiger- a focus on punches

- Drunken- a focus on defensive reposts (a smaller bonus to all martial attacks + a small bonus to

defense)

- Snake- a focus on grapple

- Mantis- a focus on jabs

- Whirlwind- Mstrike focus

- Fu Stance- mastery shortened round time to change into a stance for each progression with a 0

round time being the ultimate goal.

5: Weapons

- 2 piece Nunchuck

- 3 piece Nunchuck (modified flail)

- Chain/chainspike

- Rope/rope spike

- Bo staves (maybe a bit more common?)

- Blow gun/dart gun

- Weapon mastery: meditate to apply your “trained” ability (such as brawling) toward a different

weapon type for a period of time based on your step level. Mastery means “any weapon any

time” scenario

6: Armor:

- Rope vest

- Rope X bandolier

- Leather X bandolier

- Robes designed with a monk in mind – perhaps just more of them

7: Monk specific tackle

- Judo throw

8: Accu pressure/nerve strikes (in place of disarm)

- Certain rolls achieve different effects, or you choose your strike for different effects

o Solar Plexus strike- forces opponent to kneel and catch their breath

o deltoid strike- forces right arm to loose mobility for a round or two

o wrist strike forces a drop of weapon.

o Temple strike, knocked unconscious (such as hard tackle) stun

o Thigh strike- immobilized

9: Toughened skin from being struck by staves

- Ranks provide better protections

o 1 Leather Skin

o 2 Bark Skin

o 3 Stone Skin

o 4 Iron Skin
