Dollars to donuts someone pointed left (prod) when they should have pointed right (test).
Still, inquiring minds want to know! That's a pretty hefty boost to sorcery -- even foregoing all the previous dialog with Nilven about whether ensorcellment, as it was previously envisioned, would be beneficial to sorcery or no.
Irrespective, a 35th rank spell in the sorcerer's list? Nice!

Wait are you comparing it to this year, or to the stereotype....because the former would be disappointing news. Well at least in regards to sorcerers, our 6 consecutive weeks without rain netted me quite a few miles on the motorcycle.

Would it be possible to allow demons to have stackable duration? Have me rub the rune to get it. Better yet get rid of vakra rune and let us just prep cast to refresh, like 920 and 218. There is no reason why we need to go through the idiocy of using a rune to refresh when there is no need for it. I can understand runes for summoning demons, but after the initial link is made....why do we need another rune?

Re: Whispers in the Shadows on 09/22/2012 01:49 PM CDT
I'm torn on the demons issue.
On one hand, after years of using demons, I now have this pervasive fear of of A) Demon duration running out in town and B) Demon illusions running out in town. The spell active updates have significantly alleviated A, but not entirely. I still get paranoid being in town, and if I need to run to the bathroom or something I have to double check both duration and illusion strength before doing so. Furthermore, that there is a material cost for keeping our demon isn't SO bad, but its not always practical. I make my own runestones, and when my runestone broke in the Landing (my brush and ink being back in Illistim), I realized that buying a new set was prohibitively expensive. I could buy store-bought vakras, but they are junk, and I can't condone the inefficient spending. Meanwhile in Illistim, getting my hands on a viable "stone" in a pinch isn't always easy, though if anyone can direct me towards a store that sells smooth stones in that region, I would appreciate it. (gotta work that sand elemental!)
On the other hand, I kind of like the concept. And while I approve of streamlining and improving the efficiency and usefulness of our spells, dropping the vakra rune entirely seems maybe a bit too much. That said, I get that its just "one more thing", so maybe something can be done along those lines?
For instance:
Using the vakra rune can allow the duration to become stackable.
However, refreshing without the vakra rune can be done, but with a mana cost and maybe only half duration.
Both of these could be unlocked with Demonology training? I don't know. Just some ideas I could live with. I don't want the vakra rune to become obsolete, but I also approve of the concept of making 725 slightly more efficient. Now if only Illusions could be stacked . . . (glares at 31 minute duration).

>as soon as Sorcerer's get a personal pocket dimension to store stuff in. Which we totally deserve, and fits entirely with Sorcerous design.
>I'm thinking . . . upon mastery of Illusions, we can phase into the Shadow Illusion for a private, persistant room! Whoo!
Just saw that post, and fell in LOVE with the idea until...

Of course it's going to Savants...why hook sorcerers up with anything useful? The 740 update was nice, but seriously, I would much rather see something that cuts down on the amount of crap we have to carry...I don't know of any other profession that needs as much junk as we do. Alchemy components, scroll unlocking runes, demon runes, necromancy crystal making junk, scrolls, etc, etc....getting just a bit damn ridiculous, don't you think? Can we fix the stuff that doesn't work now before we worry about the profession that's been coming out for the past 15 years??

They're in progress. EG isn't a factor for me. This semester has been my heaviest work load by far (to the tune of sleeping about 3 hours a night), so I haven't had much time to make forward progress on GemStone stuff. You can rest assured that the forward movement I did make before this hasn't been lost and will be returned to as soon as I'm able. I tend to do GS work in serious bursts, and unfortunately now is one of those "calms" between the coding storms.
