So, quick question. The notice is great, put in with incredible speed. And the update to the sprite? Whooo whoo!
Um. . . logically, though - we've done nothing to get a new player / character to a different town if that's what they want to do, right? I mean, you can't use the token until you pay your debts, and you can't pay your debts until you have the coin, and you can't carry the coin to . . . Well, I suppose it might be possible, but maybe that needs to be somehow called out, too.
Otherwise, I'm not sure we've eased the entrapment of a random city start, we've only said 'yep - you can't.'

Thankfully, the starting debt equals the coins in pocket at character creation. If the player goes ahead and does the sprite quest, they'll have more coins than they began with; the thing the player would not want to do if they know they'd like to travel to a different town immediately is deposit any coins in the starting town's bank.
The travel guide token is provided to each new character for a free trip from the travel office and then from the desired destination, the player can establish their bank on the free to play subscription for the first time. Coins in pocket will not affect the guide's ability to get the player to their selected town.
Not stuck (yay!), and able to pay debt immediately as that's done at the town's city hall (debt collector's office), which is not tied to the bank.
I very much appreciate the constructive feedback people are taking the time to give, thank you!

Does the sprite quest have a portion that alerts the player to their debt, and takes them to pay it off accordingly?
Furthermore.. does the debt even serve a purpose at this point? If we know the sprite quest is going to end up giving characters X silver, what is the point of the beginning debt exactly? I rolled up a new character a while back and decided to make use of the travel token... which the travel office took but then told me i couldn't leave with a debt. The entire process of then going to find the office to pay it off and come back and finding the right syntax to then get my free trip (as i believe my token was gone) was a bit of a hassle. I'm just not sure if the debt is serving the purpose it was intended to (or what that purpose is).

I adjusted the travel guide script to not take your token if you cannot begin the trip immediately. The clerk did (and still does) give you 20 minutes from the time he takes the token for you to ORDER your trip, but several people had issues and took longer than 20 minutes to get them resolved.

As persnickety as it may sound, I think it does serve a purpose - a fairly important one. It establishes TANSTAAFL, and introduces verbs that the new player should experience. Where that comes in the sequence of intros to important concepts could be debated, I suppose. But done away with? Probably not our best option.
It might be worthwhile if the travel clerk could 'arrange' to take care of the debt for the character. Using the same commands, and paying the travel clerk might be a good idea. Could take this a couple of different ways, side business for the travel clerk or charity welcome to the lands, etc.

It doesn't currently mention the debt and how to pay it off. I can look at adding something like this with additional messaging about the banking situation.
