An Unprecedented sound echoed throughout the forest at the exact moment Miranu leaped from hiding to strike the beastly forest bendith down. A clean miss! Miranu cursed his luck as he watched the bendith then streak off into the bushes into hiding. Something had obviously scared it, and it wasn’t Miranu’s doing. Miranu decided it was best not to press his luck hunting anymore for the eve and headed back home to Ta’Illistim. But on the walk home Miranu pondered what that strange…BOOM…or BANG…sound was that he heard.
I’m pleased to be given the duty to announce that a new profession, Gunslinger, will be released in the very near future!
To commence this inception a whole new array of weapons will be released: sidearms, longarms, and our specially-coined “incursion rifles”.
Sidearms will be small, and easily hidden, pistol-styled weapons. They will have short RT’s and the smallest DF’s of the new-style weapons.
Longarms will be a little bigger, shotgun-styled, weapons. They will also be able to be hidden on the person…but only in certain types of containers and garments. They will, of course, have a slightly longer RT than sidearms and a greater DF.
Incursion rifles will be your BIG GUNS. They will be cumbersome, have longer RT’s, but will pack quite the firepower! There will also be a special ability of these to be fired from long distances (up to 25 rooms away). A special spyglass, or binoculars, will have to be bought and used to be able to use this ability, however.
Along with the implementation of the Gunslinger profession there will be more abilities attained through the training of lores and other various skills. For example, Gunslingers—and only them—will be able to train in telepathy lore to increase the effectiveness of their projectiles by curving their flight-pattern. This will allow for some very interesting combos and trick shots; but you’ll have to investigate further to see! Surprise!
Also, all professions will gain the semi-natural ability to be able to fully DODGE projectiles with enough dodge training. The base threshold will be set at 10 ranks and increase in effectiveness and style-points with further training. Professions that are able to 3x in the dodge skill will have some awesome stlyle-points. If you’ve never watched The Matrix, you better get on it!
Training in the Perception skill will allow a target to sense impending doom from shots fired at them from a distance. This will give them a small chance (growing with more training) to do a variety of actions that can have the chance to reduce the damage, block the projectile, or dodge it.
A new martial stance, Furry Fists of Fury, will give the character a chance to catch the projectile with no damage taken. If activated when leading a group it will allow the group members to have a chance too, albeit not as good a chance as the activator. The more free hands, the greater the chance to catch the projectile. There will also be a miniscule chance that the character will be able to catch the projectile with their teeth, barring their hands are not empty.
To celebrate the start of this golden era of weapons a raffle will be set up soon in Solhaven and River’s Rest for a commemorative, and usable, BLUNDERBUSS. The blunderbuss will be an auction-equivalent weapon that will allow the user to shoot a special scatter-shot projectile that will hit multiple creatures in all adjacent rooms. Two raffles. Two blunderbusses! Go blunderbuss or go….bust!
COMING REAL SOON NOW!
