A new set of hunting areas have been released: the Elemental Confluence!

This set of level 95 hunting grounds is populated with elementals of various types and combinations. Portions of the Confluence are accessible through numerous elemental instabilities created by the collision of Elanthia and the demiplane. Each of these protrusions toward Elanthia is seperately accessible from each major town and are considered a separate (local) hunting ground.

In order to pass from Elanthia and into this demiplane, one must trap elemental souls and then use them to draw oneself through an elemental instability. The soulstones provided by Alusius are used to perform this function (simply wear them and kill elementals in order to automatically trap their souls). To enter, simply push a soulstone with enough soul power (10 powerful elemental souls, or a greater number of lesser ones) into an elemental instability. If you are of sufficient power (minimum level 80), you will be transported to the Confluence.

Each point of elemental instability is keyed to a particular elemental attunement and flows randomly through the local area. Elementally ATTUNEd folk (of any profession) are able to sense the presence and location of nearby points of elemental instability with the ATTUNE SENSE command. Being ATTUNEd also provides a degree of protection from various environmental elemental Confluence hazards.

I really dislike having to be the one saying this, but is there a particular reason why this would be geared towards non-capped people? It just seems like a questionable use of GM talents (and a little rushed - what's it been, 5-6 years since the last permanent hunting area opened up?). Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative that we got any love at all, and the storyline was inclusive (always nice!), and we even got awesome titles for participating!

This is so awesome!

Look at things it addresses:

1) Capped hunting grounds

2) Hunting grounds in different cities

3) A use for ATTUNE (finally!)

4) More use for alchemy (yay!)

That's...a lot of things for a single release to take a big bite out of. Needless to say I will be playing my sorcerer much more in the coming months. I'm actually now very vindicated for plodding along to cap, since he's presently level 91, which sounds like a good time to start trying this madness.

And pre-cap too. The worst level of choice is actually the 20 or so levels pre cap. It looks like its designed to slaughter monks, but otherwise has different pros and cons balancing it across other classes and should significantly add to the options of those approaching cap too.

Is there a way to make Confluence bounties dependent (like skinning depends on FA/Survival) on some factor? Perhaps you have to be wearing a soulstone (charge/uncharged) in order to have access to Confluence bounties?

It's a neat idea. I really like the flavor and the feel of the place, conceptually, but I can't really hunt there at all. I can certainly deal with spell-drop on entry and all that, but I dislike spell-stripping attacks and dispels with a passion and loathing that defies all reason. Also and more importantly, all elementals are inherently immune to all of my primary attack spell options as a warding Empath (Harm, Bone Shatter, Wither), and I'm not trained to bolt, so.... this place is like, antithetical to my very being, heh. Maybe when they release a new hunting area full of fleshy bags of meat and blood, I'll be luck... but as it stands, alas, there are only obtuse and grossly inefficient ways for me to kill things there. I did peek my head in briefly to look around, however, and it's a pretty neat concept.

Kudos to the staff on all the hard work involved, and the stealth release of the place!

I would vastly prefer for there to be an "opt-in" method myself, as otherwise, that would simply mean having even more tasks that I would just have to drop (see above). Love the idea of requiring a soulstone to make them "available", though... that would make it nice and simple for anyone to add or opt-out, as needed.

For others capable of hunting there, however, I think it would be an amazing addition to be able to have a place to hunt and even do bounties in places that have been lamenting such for a long time, such as River's Rest!

Hurled and bolts from the critters vs those without shield are... well.. a bit over the top. I depend on evasion and I am also, seeing 'zero' evasion on the thrown-bolts from the elemental's.

I would like to cast 102 like the old days on the critters to reduce the bolting attacks ... but apparently this was changed? anyone able to verify?

Even running 102 on myself and 106 in rooms, using forward stance, and still getting pounded. I go to guarded they start dispelling heh sweet

Is there any chance that the soulstones used to access the confluence could be considered non-functional items? It's kinda difficult to use the area if you are already using all of your functional pin worn slots. Was this the intent?
