Clarification on Banes please? on 02/25/2016 04:51 PM CST

I'm really at a lost now after reading gswiki

When going to the bane page, there's the undead / grim / extraplanor.. however; I'm not seeing troll nor demon (although demon is shown but nothing on the list). When I go to the demon page, you'll see that the vathor, oculoth, and the abyran'ra are classified as extraplanor beings.

So.. is demon bane now extra planor bane? What of troll baned weapons too for that matter?

Sorry, not trying to be a pest, just trying to get clarification and want to also point out that demon baned weapons still show up as the bane of demons when sung by bards so if it is now extra planor then maybe that should get changed.

There is a stub at the end of the page and a work in progress bar at the top. Stub means the page needs help. Feel free to add to it.

Those demons are also classified as extraplanar beings.

troll bane is covered under creature bane

Creature Bane

A Creature Bane weapon gives either flares, weighting, or extra enchant when used against a specific creature. This was the original concept for bane and the idea expanded over the years. Bane is set with the first swing of the weapon.

I don't think you're answering my question, respectfully.

The main question is if the bane is applied to (for example) an elemental in Confluence. Also.. I'd feel a bit better if this was answered by staff for a solid clarification answer if you don't mind (please don't take wrong way, as I do appreciate the attempt of assisting)

You had several comments in relation to the Wiki page. I wrote the page, thus I responded.

No disrespect, but the problem with a wiki is that everybody and anybody can change it. I'd rather hear first hand from a host to know if a demon baned weapon (for example) will have the bane active upon elementals as well or not since it's the wiki itself that started the confusion in the first place since originally I was under the impression it's strictly demon only. Thus the need of clarification and why I'd rather hear from staff when they have the time to give a response.

Thanks.

There is nothing about demon bane on the wiki yet, hence the stub. Extraplanar bane is different and encompasses more creatures, including demons. If you read the saved posts, you will have a GM explanation, if you go back to the link I posted and click on threaded view, you will see the list was made with Wyrom's help, and confirmed.

If you read my actual post, you'll realize that that the confusion is between both the bard singing (the bane of demons) vs the gs wiki) thus in game mechanics aren't clear if said demon bane weapons are in fact not just a sub bane of extra planar. Thus why I'm hoping to get clarification from the staff and not you with all due respect.

I have read your original post, and am pointing out a thread where a GM answers the root of your questions. Sure, there can be more GM clarification, I welcome it, but demon bane and extraplanar bane are different, just like elemental bane and extraplanar bane are different. It is not one bane per creature, creatures can fall into a number of categories, like both extraplanar bane and undead, or undead and troll.

You also more than one question, like "what happened to troll bane," which I also wanted to address as the author of the page.

Part of the back and forth is to make the bane page better, so while you may not really appreciate me posting, my questions and comments are meant to draw information out to improve the wiki so that there is less confusion.

So thus.. demon bane is actually just demons and has nothing to do with extraplanar creatures at all less those creatures just happen to be a demon though classified as an extra planar.

That's what I was after. Surprised there's even a demon bane extra planar addresses the demons and more. Odd... but that answers it. Thanks.
