Some damn good ideas in this thread. Quite a number of the well-received ones, or the frequently submitted ones are rephrases of the same notion.

I'm somewhat interested in what Kitrina would consider an appropriate length in words or letters, for the slogan. If you're not too concerned about keeping it short and snappy, you could pretty much combine the main noted themes into something.

At that, I don't have anything particularly original to submit, but after this next cup of coffee, I'll share some rewrites of what has caught my eye in this thread.

.. drinks cup of coffee ..

GemStone IV
: Author your own Adventure
*
: Crafting Character Destiny since 1987
:(or pluralize it, as in Crafting Character Destinies since 1987)
*
: Everything a RolePlaying Game should be
*
: A World Built upon the Limits of your Imagination
*
: The next Chapter in this Adventure is 'in your hands' (or 'up to you')
*
: Players Author their Epic Fantasies together here.
*
: Creativity is the Limit. Imagination is the Gateway. The next Chapter is yours.
I rather like that last line, so..
: The next Chapter is yours.

Well, hmm.. scanning and previewing that makes me want to offer something snappier (which, as I noted, these don't portend to be original, and may well have already been suggested), so..

GSIV: The next Chapter in this Adventure is yours.

That's all I have for now, without more parameters in terms of slogan length, etc.

Where "type" is in Courier and comes out one
character
at
a
time,
with a blinking cursor bar (think, the opening screen of "Matrix").

That's awesome Krakii, I think it could capture multiple audiences too...with the "matrixlike" connotations might get people to take a look at it, while emphasizing what the game is really like too.

Also, very memorable. It would stand on its own and it represents what the product is.

Screw a slogan and go with an animated banner. They say a picture is worth a thousand words after all.

The banner would consist of a Kobold doing the crazy stuff it does. Could also feature a goblin doing the crazy stuff it does.

Then we need another kobold to walk in and bite the first one on the knee. Heh.

<<If you can bring the roleplay and community values of Gemstone to Hero's Journey, you'll have hit the jackpot.>>

Not to bring up something over a month old, but I whole-heartedly agree. I came back to GS after a 7 year hiatus (and playing numerous other games) because of the amount of fun I had in GS and my excitement that Simu was going to put out a grapical game. It just doesn't compare to anything that's come out since, graphical or no.

Wow, I've never read this folder until today.. so though late, here are some of my suggestions that may or may not have been suggested before.

Gemstone IV: Its not a game, its a lifestyle
Gemstone IV: Adventure/Fantasy at your fingertips
Gemstone IV: Rogues, Elves, Orcs and YOU!
Gemstone IV: Calling your inner <insert profession/race here>.
Gemstone IV: Resistance is futile.
Gemstone IV: Come for the adventure, stay for the community.
Gemstone IV: Over 10 billion kobolds killed.. and counting!
Gemstone IV: Open/Free your mind.
Gemstone IV: Alternate/Upgrade your reality.
Gemstone IV: Imagination is only the beginning..
Gemstone IV: Because geeks are sexy
Gemstone IV: Where YOU are the adventure.
Gemstone IV: Celebrating imagination for XXXX years!
Gemstone IV: Where imagination becomes reality.
Gemstone IV: Reach your hero potential.
Gemstone IV: Welcome to Elanthia. Welcome home.
Gemstone IV: We've been waiting for you.
Gemstone IV: Bringing adventure/imagination to life.

These would be more of a visual...
Gemstone IV: Fun and fantasy for the whole family.
With a shot of a family of orcs crowded around a computer screen looking like they are having a grand old time.

.
.

Gemstone IV: You are Here!
With a shot of a circle of all the various critters you can fight, as many deep as necessary surrounding a 3 party adventuring group that consists of the outline of a person with an arrow over their head with a warrior to their left and an obvious magic user to their right.

.
.

Fade in on an adventurer battling a horde of critters. Then cuts to the same adventurer protecting a child from bandits. Cut to the adventurer either forging or cobbling or something of that nature. Cut to adventurer in dire straits when an arrow comes out of the shadows to kill the offending beast. A ranger/rogue comes out of hiding to pull adventurer up and give them a backslap before dissolving into the shadows again. Finally cut to Helga's where the adventurer, with a frothy mug of ale in hand, is telling the tale of his day to the patrons.
Fade to black and then in white letters - Gemstone IV: What did YOU do today?

- S, maybe I went a bit overboard with the ideas. :D

A plains orc chieftain swings a crude iron morning star at you!
You skillfully deflect the attack with your warblade!

A plains orc chieftain shrugs her shoulders and gives off a despondent sigh.
