would like to see a neat effect such as:

**

a player in Voln (for the first time in 24 hours) sits in the baths and gets to the fully relaxed state

he gains a 50% chance to gain +5 mana and +5 stamina every 5 minutes for the next 4 hours, and sees a message like

"Your resolve is strengthened by your recent spiritual cleansing."

**

an Elven player enters Illistim for the first time in 24 hours, he is a citizen of the town

for the next 4 hours, he gains a 30% chance to pulse with +1 spirit every 5 minutes, due to being an Elf, with relevant messaging

**

A Sunfist master returns to the Sunfist headquarters after not having entered in a week

the player gains a 50% chance for a +20 stamina boost every 5 minutes for 4 hours with relevant messaging

A cleric / monk enters the shrine of the deity after a week's absence. The cleric gains +3 CS and +3 spell aim for 4 hours.

Monks would gain more / be able to "worship" more often to gain the boost

A monk meditating at the shrine of Kai for 20 minutes could gain +15 brawling bonus / +15 agility for 1 hour.

Clerics would gain additional benefits by using 330

A cleric attuned to Koar could infuse his runestaff with 300 charges of powerful lightning flares by beseeching Koar at his shrine once per week.

A monk attuned to V'Tull could gain reactive fire flares on all brawling attacks for 4 hours by beseeching V'Tull

a small sidebyside effect for a group of say, 5 dwarves hunting in Zul Logoth, or 2 cold-attuned mages hunting Teras together.. or 2 fire attuned mages hunting ice critters...

etc....

any thoughts?

Seems more a mechanical bonus then anything to help RP to me the way it's put down, and would encourage people to stay out of areas for x amount of time to get said bonuses.

An interesting idea to be sure, but to make it work with the spirit you intended I think it would need to be reworked completely. Instead of being gone per say they would have to be there x amount of time over x period, but I'd gather people would just find out of the way spots to rest to try to get the bonuses then.

Having the canary not play dead in the presence of returning citizen of Logoth, and instead, say, bounce around happily, or drop dwarven ale at your feet - Now that would be a fun roleplay benefit.

That's either a really big canary or just enough ale to make a dwarf annoyed at you. :) I like the idea, though, and wouldn't mind seeing the various "pets" in each town behaving better around citizens.
