Just returned to the lands after several months of being away. I have heard that you can, and often do, lose you home if you are away for a length of time, but is there a way to be able to buy a new home? I know you can only have one home per account..but with the old house gone, I tried to buy a new house and got a 'you already have a home on this account' message...is there a way to either reset something so I get the old house back or clear it out so I can buy a new one? Not that I used the house that often, but it is nice to have something to work on decorating with excess silvers..Any help would be appreciated...thanks

If you JUST came back (i.e., you haven't been back for the 90 days required to own a home), wait until then and try again. If you still can't get a new home once you pass that 90 days, put in an assist and have staff look at it. If you've already passed that mark, assist. ;)

As far as I'm aware, shop cleanup is still bugged and isn't happening (which is probably good for me, considering how often I forget to visit mine with the owner every 6 months)...

I think that was before it was turned off. If you recall, there was a huge issue with the "clean-up script" that took out a lot of legit shops that it shouldn't have. It was turned off, the mess cleaned up, and then put in the fix queue. As far as I know, nobody has fixed it and it has not been turned on again.

Shows how out of it I was. I never realized you were a GM.

Not to worry; if you blinked, you would have missed it. I was a GM for about 6 months. Turned out to be poor timing. Between the time I said "Yes" and the actual GM training began, I switched jobs, accepting the #3 spot in a startup company. There just weren't enough hours in the day to take care of the company, the family, sleep, and GM. Something had to give, and GemStone is at the bottom of the priority list.

Actually, the really poor timing was starting a new company right before the global economy went in the toilet. Hard to get a new business going when all your customers are getting laid off.

So, ironically, I have lots of free time right now. :(

I think would make a great GM, you would be it.

To being honest, a large array of skills and qualities are needed in GM land, and lots of people -- very, very different people -- make excellent GMs.
