So I started out triple training in lock picking then started lm and realized it is makeing my progress much harder... if i use fixskills to tweek my training down to say, 2x per, will the toughness that is required of me drop as well? Or did the initial test that the training masters gave me set the standard in stone?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

It is always calculated based on the conditions when you pick the lock.
Tough lock when trained 3x must be at least 65% of your maxlock
Tough lock at 2x must be at least 75% of your maxlock
At low levels it can actually increase.

I've done LFM first as a tripler, and am currently doing it as a doubler. (I'm part the component reps on the doubler, so I'm almost done.)
It's MUCH easier finding your own boxes if you double. If you get most of your reps picking for others, it doesn't matter much (if at all).
But if you're hunting for your own boxes, first of all, you've sunk so many points into tripling that you're not going to be as good a hunter, so over-hunting is harder. Then you have to be very selective about what you hunt (roa'ters, shan, devils, etc.) so you're hunting things that have particularly hard boxes.
By contrast, my doubling rogue really hasn't had all that much trouble finding boxes he can get reps from. And he's a much better hunter.

There's also another trick we use/used for LFM training.
You can take your low end lockpick and bend/break/repair it many times over, thereby degrading the modifyer, which reduces your max pickable lock. The best, in this case worste, lockpick repairers are the NPCs.
Reducing your skill from trippler to doubler for the time period that your training in LFM is most definately a personal choice, but not a necessity in order to master the skill. Harder yes, but not impossible.
