Took me a minute too Tsoran. I THINK what he's saying is there are very few lock pickers around anymore these days anyway therefore this change won't affect many people.

I thought he was saying there were locksmiths who used the amulet to lower their skills so they'd get more experience. Sort of like using the worst lockpick possible.

Yes, that was my interpretation as well.

Though because the amulet penalty applied to spotting and disarming traps, not picking locks, I expect that few locksmiths would have been interested. Does disarm experience scale against difficulty in the same way that picking experience does? And even if putting on the amunet might give you a few more experience from disarming a trap... would it be worth risking the failure?

Yes, traps work the same way as locks, in terms of experience. I'm not sure if turning on the emulet would have increased your experience, but I'm with you -- it wouldn't be worth the risk.
