It's amazing that I took a year long break and it seems like I can't find things in playershops that I normally could easily. Bounty gems and white crystals especially.
There's a certain attrition over time to the playershops as more and more are bought and taken by non-playing people and into the black hole they go.
I really hope they're able to fix the system. Its getting worse year to year in my experience.
If nothing else, seems like they could create more shops. Sure, more broken shops, but at least the system would be more useable (that is, more ACTIVE shops in number if not ratio).

If it makes you feel any better about 8 years ago (could have been longer, it was a while ago and time keeps going by too dang fast) I was able to get my hands on a 3 room shop in Solhaven. I think I paid maybe 5mil for it. I used it for a year or more. I thought it was great.
This was when there were two sites that had runners that would update inventory from the stores. I stocked gems, gems and more gems (sold like crazy) for gem bounties and some enchanted weapons/armor/shields.
Time came I would be away from the game for a long period of time so I sold it back off - roughly the same price.
Today, those few shops that people do sell (especially 3 room shops) go for 20-25mil+. Getting a shop these days isn't going to happen for most people. There are so many shops with no updated inventory or no inventory so to speak. Hopefully whoever is in charge of the shops, they are getting time to work on it. It would be nice to see a sweep and reset on shops (granted, giving people ample warning their shop will be sold off if they don't take such and such actions).
Then, any shop not claimed, the inventory can be dumped into thrift store (kind of like the pawnshop), but it would be located in the player shop area. Or maybe do an auction for each store inventory or raffle....I'd hate to see items just get swept up into the system without folks having a chance to have them.....wishful thinking it seems on my end. I do want to see the system revamped. Only time will tell.

>Why not just let everybody have a shop?
It'd be interesting to evolve more of the game to a player-driven economy, especially for small, regular things that get sold to NPC shops more often than players. Shops are a good example of something that Simu could charge a monthly rate on, though, and probably get decent interest if the price is right. I'd rather see a shop system that can support itself, so it can improve over time. The current system doesn't work that way.
