It's been a long while since I priced out my major enchanting slot, but here's what it would cost if I worked your item.

4x-5x:
cost is 2.5mil
time is about 24-30days

5x-6x:
cost is 4mil
time is about 36-42days

If it was consecutive enchants on one item, I'd probably just charge 6mil to go from 4x-6x. Half up front, half when done.

Remember, the prices can vary depending on the wizard and the item times can vary as well, depending on the number of current major enchanting projects that are going on.

I hope this helps you out some. As for if the cost is worth it....well, it depends on if you just need a 6x item or if you have strong ties to your item and you want it improved.

I charge 6 million silvers to go from 4x-6x. Time estimate to complete is about 90 days.

Toothpick Topple

Toothpicks are placed on the ground and then upon one another with participants taking turns. As the stack grows it takes more skill and luck to place the next one. Whoever causes the stack to topple is out of the round.

Thanks for the imput. Sadly, this means one of my boys needs to get rich, or the other needs to learn to enchant.

How hard is a 4x-6x per say? Lets say an average trained mage, what level would you want to be before trying with off the shelf stuff?
Im not worried about blowing things up, I would just make another, but I know nothing about enchant. My Wizard only went up to familiar, then stopped..

I am not an expert, but this will make my point. The actual skill level is relatively easy, if by a level 53-55 Wizard is easy I suppose. It's the major slot that it fills. You need 5 potion pours with 5-7 day tempers to hit 5x then 6 potion pours at 6-8 day tempers to hit 6x. Meanwhile you can't enchant anything else to 5x or higher.

This is where your cost is built : Time exclusivity.

Usually the 5x temper pours require 4-5 days each, sometimes you do hit that 6 day.

As for training, if you're well trained towards enchanting, you might be good for going to 6x around mid 40s, with minimal chance of a major failure (there is always a chance, 3%, regardless of how well trained you are).

I've got a level 26 wizard that is skilled enough to do 5x enchants, though he has failed on a few attempts - hasn't lost an item yet, but that 5th cast is probably a 70-80% successful rate from what I've seen with him. If you wish to know more about the enchanting skills or other questions, hit up the Wizard folder.

For another reference, my Dwarf Mage has been doing 7x with no problem since the conversion to GS4, and he's gone from maybe 43rd (or so?) when that happened to I think he's 48th now.

(The point being made is that mid-to-late 40s can have you doing 7x Enchants, if that's where you want to be.)
