Soooo.....
I think I sort of placed some stats for growth. But I'm not really sure. Anyone have a link to that awesome spreadsheet Tsoran made oh so long ago? Nothing I can do about that right now. But more to the meat of the post:
What am I doing wrong? I know my climbing is a bit high. I also know that I should probably fixskill in that ambush training right about now. I'm doing pretty well thus far, hunting strategy is cast 608, and aim eye, win. Finally aiming at the eye off the bat is a viable strategy.
Questions: If I drop perception (help with aiming) and add in ambush, will I no longer be able to aim quite so well? Or should I hold the fixskill until I get the AS bonus at 40 and just do it at 40? Am I so screwed up that I should really even use the fixskill? Honestly, I was thinking only of migrating some points from climbing over to swimming.
The major concerns that I have:
I added the extra ranks of mana control so that when I hit 30 I get an extra per pulse. I realize now that may have been foolish.
Not having ambush at 40 ranks when I hit 40 and therefore not getting a bonus
Will not having any CM really hurt me in the long run?
Thanks all!
Luc

<Finally aiming at the eye off the bat is a viable strategy.>
There's absolutely nothing wrong with aiming for the eyes right away with ranged, it's part of what makes the weapon style so powerful... provided you can hit the eyes reliably.
<If I drop perception (help with aiming) and add in ambush, will I no longer be able to aim quite so well?>
You'll lose about 4 AS and have a harder time aiming shots from the open if you drop your Perception to get ambush ranks. In my opinion, ranger and rogue archers should try to maintain 2x in perception since it's fairly inexpensive for both, though my ranger does just fine with 1x in ambush so long as she keeps 613 active (she snipes exclusively and isn't much higher in level).
If you need more points to get 1x ambush, I'd pick either survival or FA to drop (I'd suggest dropping FA since it's more expensive for rangers). You shouldn't notice much of a drop in skin values so long as you make sure to cast 604 before skinning. If you still need points, you can safely drop both climbing and swimming down to 10 ranks (unless you're in RR, then you'll want to keep swimming where it is) and even drop MIU for the time being since 11 ranks isn't getting you a whole lot for the investment.
One last note, if you don't mind using your bow mostly from the open, you don't need to worry about getting ambushing ranks at all since that doesn't factor in to open aiming... unless you find yourself hurting for AS in the future.
