I've been toying around with the idea of getting a Chromebook to fill my laptop style needs instead of a full-fledged laptop. Has anyone tested one to see if you can run Stormfront on it? My initial thought is no, as the OS is very closed off. The part 2 would be if anyone has tried using Stormfront with Ubuntu, as I can always partition off and sideload it onto the device.

Thanks!

I haven't tried it personally, but I strongly suspect the only interface to work on a Chromebook would be the web interface. With Ubuntu, WINE works well, and then SF, and Wizard open up as possibilities. You'll have to compile it yourself, though.

I, too, am considering a Chromebook for travel, instead of my large laptop.

I'd like to hear what luck you've had with GemStone on your Chromebook, if you did follow through and get one.

Thanks!
