My rogue has hit the point where she can't hunt in the Landing area. She's been asking Rhetegar for bounties, but is getting nothing but escorts. I am wondering why no bandit bounties are being offered? I have done bandit bounties with her before, and it's a cute rogue vs rogue tactical session. But now they seem non-existent. Why? Is it just because of her level?
I'd rather do bandit bounties than escorts, because then I don't have to worry about some idiot non-combatant getting wiped. My three gals in Illistim are having no problems getting bandit bounties; is it about the area?

It is because there is no capped (or whatever training threshold you exceeded) hunting around the Landing. Outside of some temporary areas or society warcamps and warparty tasks that don't count.
If this just happened you can reduce your level range some (but also guild rewards) by asking about lower or something.
Or you can be addd to a PC's task that can still learn from Landing zone creatures, for a few levels anyway.
Or you can wear a charged soulstone when you ask for tasks. This will get you Landing bandits but also opens you up to other Confluence specific tasks you may not want to do.

I understand the reasoning that you are putting forth, but the rationale breaks down in view of the fact that I can get escort missions to Ice Mule and Solhaven, neither of which have capped hunting areas either. Since on the escort missions I will be attacked by level 98 or so thugs (=> rogues/bandits), I am basically facing the same opposition as on a bandit hunting bounty. It's illogical that I can get one mission type but not the other, since both feature the same type/level of enemy.
To be consistent with the reasoning that you propose, I should only be getting escort missions to Ta Illistim.

Re: Landing Bounties on 07/20/2017 05:54 AM CDT
Let me clarify.
On escort missions, you transport an NPC from town A to town B. Along the way, you will be attacked at random points by thugs, who are rogues of approximately your own level of training.
On bandit suppression missions, you patrol from point A to point B. Along the way, you will be attacked at random points by bandits, who are rogues of approximately your own level of training.
To me, the two mission types seem, mechanically speaking, to be essentially identical.

Its just the way the system works if there is no hunting ground of your level in the area you wont get bounties. Yes you will get escorts in areas that allow it. You also always dont get jumped on escort quests, its rare but it happens. So saying its the same as bandits isnt one in the same.
If you wear a soulstone that allows access to the confluence you get bandit task agains too, since this opens a hunting ground in the area for you.

Yeah, I was just going to say that:
1. Rift in considered Icemule capped hunting.
2. Sanctum of Scales is considered Solhaven capped hunting.
3. A soulstone will let you get capped bandit (and gem) tasks from any town.
4. A bone periapt will let you get capped bandit (and gem) tasks in Solhaven.

You can get capped bandits and gems in Solhaven even without a bone periapt.
I really do want a capped Landing hunting ground, though (not counting the Confluence), both for its own sake and for capped Landing bandits without a soulstone. Because of the current storyline, I keep hoping that either Dennet will "accidentally" draw the attention of the Ithzir by collecting their artifacts or "accidentally" blow up part of the Thanatoph to reveal a new area where even bigger Illoke followers dwell.
...or both!

Oh, in terms of pure wishlist the places I'd like to see expanded most are Shadow Valley, the Broken Lands, and Darkstone in descending order of preference. They're all thematically fascinating places with great ambient messaging and interesting environments! I just named the Bowels because that's the hunting ground that ties in with the current story most, and at this point I'd take anything.

Xorus is going to be lecturing about Shadow Valley on (probably?) August 5th before the ki-lin hunt, because it's (not so obviously) a spin-off of the Broken Lands story.
There is a lot of subtle stuff hidden in those places. Unfortunately, I can't talk directly about the OOC aspects, all of the mythology and literature in it.

(I wish the Shadow Valley release was better recorded. I have not seen the logs of Muylari speaking or the horses returning in a decade.)
Several intact gravesites lie to the east. You also see a skeleton that appears dead.

Sanctum of Scales is close to a capped hunting area in (underground) Solhaven, and I do know people that have received bounties there. Supposedly you might be able to sneak in if you're 95ish, but even at 100+, I'm having a hard time staying alive when a bunch of people mill around down there (especially the scripters).

<<I'd love to see some new life breathed in the broken lands...or is that unlife?>>
The issue with squaring it with modernity in terms of the lore is that the whole thing is about the Empress Kadaena being able to see the future, and her old servants working with cults of the Unlife (the hooded figures) and the Dark Gods, and the origin of the Dark Gods back when the deities were all extra-planar. So I think you would just leave the original part alone entirely, and tack on something new where you pay some lip service to its concept while being non-committal about the theological implications.
You would have to gloss over that stuff and focus on Uthex using corrupt dark power (making it vaguer than "The Unlife") to transform souls into other kinds of entities of a fundamentally different nature (e.g. demons, other extra-planars) or forming servants of immense power and self-awareness (deities) whole clothe out of pure energy.

(The Miracle spell 350 was supposedly from the work of "Sage Uthex", but that was totally inconsistent with his actual story.)

Just a late follow up. I dropped my bounty difficulty by 1 level, and suddenly I am getting Bandit tasks in the Landing. As well as gem, foraging and culling tasks. It's as though Rhetegar said "Oh, you want easier bandits! OK, you got it."
Mind you, the bandits are still 95-100 trains; they haven't suddenly gotten easier, and they are clearly lurking about the area, so I have no idea why I couldn't get them before.

Re: Landing Bounties on 07/31/2017 03:39 AM CDT
It depends on what level you are. If there are base level creature 5 levels under you, you will get all the guild tasks (provided not on an island so no town2town escorts, or where the only correct level range hunting ground doesn't have rescue tasks like the Rift).
You can make your tasks easier to the point of being 6 to a max of 9 levels below you, at a 15-60% reward penalty. So you are probably now at a 15% penalty and I doubt capped because I don't there is a base 94 level creature around the Landing (permanently anyway to count for the guild).

I'm really sad I missed this. Erek has a ki-lin horn hilted mein broadsword that originally was just "a mein broadsword" until one day a ki-lin was summoned right in front of our hunting group. I skinned the horn and kept it for several months before I was able to convince a wandering merchant to replace the hilt with the sword, which also rendered the weapon permanently blessed. (Those merchants back then were pushovers!!! :D )
