Just want to give a huge shout out for all the recent hunting ground releases.
I never thought I'd see the ability for capped hunting and bounties in RR. Maybe strange as a sorcerer to have become obsessed with foraging all the time, but it was a dream of my character (and his style) to be good at that. Survival skill is very relevant in the Confluence, and I've dumped lots of TPs into that skill now, and starting about next week I'll be working on full 2x. It also has piles of gems, which is another love of mine. I also forked out coins for a shop recently so I can stash up foraged items (though, they should possibly jar, for democratic reasons). So this really covers my main character.
But there's now the Red Forest.
And the Sanctum of Sanctum of Scales.
And Reim is coming out.
Though I think we may have reached the limit for odd hunting grounds accessed in various realms kind of model before it gets silly, it seems like just the right amount, targeted to known issues and player concerns. I'm looking forward to Phase II of the Chronomage revamp to see what's up your (collective) sleeve.
(There's that weird woods area in IMT, too...I haven't explored it since I don't have a relevant character to hunt there with, and I'm not sure it addressed a specific point, but good on Retser for finishing an old project! Mostly I like this because it is the traditional style, and I think we need to still continue with that. Even if the most basic concerns have been covered, it doesn't mean development of our wonderful world should halt. It's cool to see staff also sees it this way!)
The log in BOOSTS are also a wonderful touch. I like to stock up my gems and foraged items and just spool through bounties with the boosts and get through part of my gift with the Deadpool-style "maximum effort". I like the boosts so much ... for ... well everything. I haven't been playing a ton since I moved to Scotland overall, but I know when I play any of my characters -- since I log them in every day -- it's just time to rock and roll. Solid characters that get played a lot can do the best to exploit preferred bounties/loot/experience a little, and other characters just don't need to care because the boosts are stacked up to the sky.
I'm not always sure how I feel about the direction of the company, but I think the direction of the actual game play itself has been just phenomenal the last couple years. A lot of people (myself included) talk about how the present GM team is really killer. And while there are surely more things to say, the basic hunting options have really opened up across the globe of Elanthia and plugged all the holes.
The situation has become so awesome lately that even though I can't even play my main character through his Gift every week, I know when I play I can play and explore the game my own way, however odd.
