I need a bit of help and wodnered if I might be able to get some answers here. What skills are most important to being able to aim hurled weapons and what are the thresholds you need to reach to aim consistently? Thanks!

Wow. This is a great question -- and I have to admit to a curiosity here, myself. Hopefully we can get Paul / Kerl or another active hurler to give us some insight to this. I'll start by saying (with zero hurling experience) that I expect spells to be a primary component of this -- including the 'calm and controlled' group of spells like 404 and 613.

As to skills, and before the hurled weapon skill review is complete, I couldn't even be comfortable suggesting I could make an educated guess.

I would assume that it's perception just as with ranged (add ambush skill if sniping). Yes, 402/404 should help. Offensively, thrown seems to mimic ranged. Defensively, not at all.

CM adds to AS with thrown instead of Ambush, as with ranged, but I expect that, like ranged, it's perception only for aiming from the open. I would expect you do need ambush for sniping, though, and that it would take ambush and perception ranks both into account. That means that thrown is somewhat more expensive for a sniper than ranged is.

Ambush and CM factor into it, and I'd wager it's not much different than how they factor into melee. With 2x perception and 2x CM, aiming has never been spot on perfect but it's always been pretty good from the open, but my understanding is that ambush is the only factor when aiming from hiding for hurling.

When I was first picking it up, I was more concerned about generating enough AS than I was about hitting exactly where I was aiming.

Thanks for all the responses. Do you know at what poing I will reliably be able to aim from the open without failing to attack at all?
