Hi all,

I'm seeking anecdotal evidence from experienced warcriers with regards to the skill's pragmatic applications and success rate.

I want to decide how difficult warcries might be for my dwarf (with his INF penalty), how worthwhile struggling to offset the penalty might be, and a general sense of how significant a factor INF actually is.

Please share with me when and where war cries have been most useful to you, and what your skill rank and INF bonuses were.

I am especially interested in the stories of dwarven and half-krolvin warcry masters, as to whether they can make meaningful use of the skill during hunts, even with their racial INF penalty.

Thank you for your contributions and story-swapping!

As a Giant and early master I dont think I can give a ton of data, but I would point you in the direction of the Griffin's Voice stance to minimize the effects of throat/vocal chords damage/stress while training to offset a lot of your INF penalty.

Usefulness would probably be in the shout and holler AS boosting aspects primarily. Bellow and Growl are useful, but feint steals a good amount of their thunder.

I know someone before has said that it only matters if you've got a bonus or not but I seem to have better luck then someone else I know who has a lower bonus. So the racial penalty will likely hurt a bit but it shouldn't stop you from using them either. If you've got a negative bonus I suggest you find some enhancives to wear while doing reps. I've found that I may sometimes use bellow on grizzled cerebralites. But my main use for it is when I am helping others with bandits, it gives them time to recover from being netted or a bad string of combat maneuvers. I tend to use growl all when there are two or more things in the room that it is likely to succeed against and follow up with an mstrike. I've also used growl on radicals in Nelemar when I see them prepping a spell, don't really have to do this but if it works it means I don't have to wait for them to get around to swinging at me either. For grizzled creatures I usually try holler once and if it doesn't work oh well, if it does great. I also sometimes just randomly use it while hunting if I am not using the other warcries much but it isn't something I rely on.

First off, I think that griffins voice is amazing and might be the most practical martial stance warriors have due to low costs and universal application for all fighting styles. As an erithian I have a nice INF bonus and I have had a lot of success using offensive warcries with only rank 2 griffins voice. The fact that they don't cost stamina, can target all creatures and do not seem to be affected by stance is reason enough to train for them, imo. Like cmans best results are on like level creatures how much we can't be sure since there aren't any numbers displayed.

Griffin's Voice is pretty great, and I would imagine it would be a huge help during guild training if you can swing it at that point in your training.

With Griffin's Voice active, I can consistently run Holler through about 85% of a hunt.

well Stillson being halfling and not having the huge strength bonuses and stamina resevres of the larger races, pretty much has to run surge constantly to even come close to the big guys swings. so growl pretty much replaced feint in his hunts. So he tended to shy away from undead, but now they fair game too.

Didn't decide to just max out strength enhancives and skip surge completely?

Thanks everyone for your input! If anyone has more to add, or hasn't posted yet, I'd love to hear it.

I don't see many people commenting on the failure rate of the non-offensive cries, which is something I had noted earlier in this folder before posting my thread. Am I to assume that those failure rates become negligible when mastered and/or capped?

If anyone has trouble with occasionally failing AS boosters etc, I'd be curious to hear an estimation of that failure rate, along with INF bonus and Guild rank.

Also, thank you to the poster who mentioned growl's effectiveness as a stamina-saving alternative to feint. This is an aspect I'd forgotten to consider (I am GoS, so my stamina has many uses).

Thanks again everyone!

nope he spent his money getting the metal for his perfect waraxe instead of enhancives and orbs and slot stuff, sides he hates being a slave to the advent guild to keep his stuff charged.
