Yeah, this was pretty dissapointing. I'm not even sure there really were 10 artifacts in the quest. Was anyone running it? It's frustrating to spend 2 hours straight searching the maze, dodging level 100 creatures and voids as a level 56 and not finding an artifact or the fracture at all for those full 2 hours. And then in the end to not even find out where the missing artifacts were when the game ended. We found 8 artifacts in the first hour and 0 in the last 2.

The enhancive items on the creatures were pretty great though, I'll say that....but I was trying to win the quest, not pick up enhancives.

yeah I am almost 99% sure there was no GM off staff watching the event like there has been last time. The previous event had the GM very active in helping us... kinda was a let down

These quests are designed to be run at any time. That's one of the benefits of the system, as you can get a private run set for 3:00 AM if you really want to. That being said, we'll certainly try to peek in if we can, and we may give hints, but you shouldn't come to expect to use them to solve the quest. Any hints given will be a bonus!

That being said, there was a Platinum run with 3 people last night as well, and they won without the benefits of hints!

And, as a hint, it's entirely possible that TWO artifacts COULD be hidden in the EXACT same room...so if you SEARCH and find an artifact, don't be scared to SEARCH again! You might be pleasantly surprised!

well we lost, absolutely horrible. To have played 9/10 in the first 2 hours and get stuck completely on the last one.... going be sure to tell anyone I know not to bother with this event. Such a let down twice in a row

I don't understand the logic of banishing the event when you come so close to doing it, when we could simply put in fixes to help you along. Do you think occasional messages flashed to the room where the artifacts are hidden would help? These wouldn't be GM-given hints, but instead would be room messaging that may go off when you're in the same room as the item...

I don’t see it as worth spending the cash to get “almost” there. I also can’t recommend it to friends unless the issues are fixed. I ran last night and tonights and both of them almost got there. today’s run with only two people to get 9/10 only to lose because we couldn’t find the last item in such a large area just feels like our time was completely wasted.

We had a member last night get lost in the maze for 2 hours trying to find the fracture. With no large groups coming in without any sort of messages to help find items when things start to get close is just going to make it very hard on most people. I don’t want to spend any more cash to just almost to the end and just too completely. Would you?

I understand you don't want to spend cash until issues are fixed. I need to know those issues to fix them. Since hints on where items are at seems to be the forefront of frustration for a number of people right now, I'll add in some hinting messages (and in fact am working on it right now, to hopefully get in before the next run).

Regarding the maze, if someone spent two hours wandering through it, then they were just likely moving and hoping to find the fracture. My strong hint regarding the maze - be patient, use PEER, and map it. The room descriptions are not universally the same and can be differentiated, so you should be able to plot the route through in time.

And in fact, that was easier than I figured it would be. ;-) I've added in two hinting messages that'll occasionally display:

"You feel a sudden pull of something directly near to you on your soul..." - If you see this, I wouldn't move, but start searching
"You feel the sudden pull of something in an adjacent area on your soul..." - If you see this, you're very close.

Yeah, this was me. I was peering. I tried mapping it. Actually pulled out a blank piece of computer paper once the maze shifted and gave up mapping because rooms criss cross a lot and sometimes the directional logic doesn't completely make sense. It's hard to know if the 3 exit room with a fountain is the same as another 3 exit room with a fountain or how many fountains there are etc...Maybe I should've been more dilligent. I gave up after about 5 minutes and my lines started crossing on my paper. Have any tips on mapping? Maybe change the colors of the fountains, hedges, topiary to be unique? Or that might kill the fun.

One suggestion (feel free not to take it) would be to show a glimpse of all remaining artifacts and where they are once 15 minutes is left on the clock, even if found but unplaced.

Just suggestions, Fixes or not I am having fun with this.

There already is something mostly unique in each room - the exits of said room, unless they just luckily match up (unlikely). Bah on having to spell things out. ;-)

I also dont mean to come off as someone just ranting, it was just such a let down for those two runs to work so hard and end up with nothing for all our efforts... more so after getting so close. Maybe allowing a bit more time to finish would also be helpful.

When I ran it, one major qualm I had was that (especially in hours 2-3), it felt a lot more "dodge imploding monsters of doom and protect the lower level players" and A LOT less "search for artifacts."

I realize there's a balance at play there, but if the artifacts are so difficult to find, the difficulty is only compounded when you're constantly besieged with 5-6 capped creatures with spells prepped to blast your empath into next Volnes.

I'd either find a better way to address the level gap, adjust the creatures, or make the artifacts a bit easier to find. It seems like you're already moving on the third, which would definitely help the frustration level.

I can definitely understand how it'd be incredibly infuriating to continually get steamrolled by undead and be so close with 9/10 and then walk away empty-handed (depending on how much creature loot you snagged).

I think that for just the two of us we did really well.

What I disliked most was that the rush of time did not allow for you really explore the area. There wasn't enough time to feel like you could stop and enjoy the loresongs of the found items. There wasn't enough time to really look at or see everything within the time alloted. You were busy running from creatures or doing a mad scramble to find an item before time ran out. It felt more like a race than a role play experience to me.

Without going with someone who had already been through, I know I would not have found as much as I did.

I know how this might be taken, but for 2 people to find 9/10 is rather good. I'm sorry you failed twice, but your group wasn't exactly optimal to achieve the feet. When searching for something it's best to spread out and form a grid. You have a rather small grid with only two people.

I am moving towards the third. The first step was adjusting the needed perception to be lower, and now with the hints that'll display once you're near the item. If there continues to be difficulties and the majority can't win, then we'll look at lengthening the quest.

I disagree, having to split up makes it feel even more like a competition. As far as the searching goes, we had a good plan in place and it worked well enough to find 9/10 with only 2 people and we only spit up for maybe thirty minutes total time and got no farther along with finding the last item.

We found 9 without splitting up. You just have to figure out how not to repeatedly search the same room. We figured that out. And with a like level cleric and empath, we really SHOULD have been able to complete this even with just two.

Frankly I wish there had been more on the run with us, not more so that we could spit up and cover more ground, but so that we could bring to bear each others talents and gain a greater appreciation for other classes.

I realize that few may feel that way, but really what is the point of a group event if the group has to split up to play?

Side note: It would have saved me a death if I could have cast major sanctuary after beseeching. My minor sanctuary did not hold and I was killed again while trying to raise my comrade.
