It's a festival, and festivals are about community coming together. I think that EG is the one festival we regularly have where there seems to be a sense that we're all in it together. At the same time, we're also all running around trying to pursue the things we want, so maybe it's some of both. I'm not opposed to making changes, but I would think long and hard about instituting a change that makes it less of a community festival and more of a sale of items that separates the sale of the items from the gaming experience, and even worse so if it deflates the value of the gaming experience. Deflating the value of the gaming experience = bad for the long term health of the game.
