This was my third run, if you include the beta run. Each one has been different. I ended up breaking off from the main group and doing some solo questing, which was fun. Then I joined with different sub groups that formed - mainly because we kept on getting detatched from the main group. Haha
I actually like seeing the script total accumulate and am looking forward to spending my script on a little item I have my eye on.
I have 1 more run scheduled for tomorrow and I will try out my solo skills for the 2 hours. I suspect this won't be my last run either.
I've still not figured out the captain's cabin though.
One piece of advice for anyone going on future runs. It's been said before but it bears repeating. When you get on the schooner to return home, don't bother about healing, or recounting stories, or spelling up or talking to the NPCs on the boat or checking your experience etc etc.
Pick up all the loot fast! Fill every nook and cranny of your containers with that stuff before you get whisked off the schooner. Start doing it a few minutes before the quest is officially over.
You snooze...you lose!
Incidentally, as promised to you guys in the pawnshop earlier, I'll get these boxes picked, items sung to and let you have your share of stuff tomorrow at the latest...possibly today if I can convince my family that sharing loot on a quest is more important than celebrating a family member's birthday. Pffttt! Where are their priorities! :D

Re: Interesting session on 05/11/2014 01:24 AM CDT
I got kind of screwed by the interaction of the TELL verb with minor demons. I was hoping to have a grik hold lots of silver for me, but the bugger wouldn't come on board, and one cannot dismiss from afar. I was trying to tell people not to take the first prisoner in a room, since it was the only option left to me, but no one was really paying that much attention.
So if you know Minor Summoning, make sure to get rid of your friend before being swept away!
>Pick up all the loot fast!
I hoped we had a bit more time for the loot, but you're definitely right here. Still, I scooped up more loot than almost anyone I think (contributed about 300k + to the total haul).
Also, my mini is ridiculously amazing:
a halfling witch doctor miniature
Painted violet and green eyes gaze from the waxy sallow face of the masterfully detailed likeness of a halfling witch doctor. He has ankle-length, knotted silvery white hair with a large bald spot. He grasps a flame-etched ebonwood staff capped with a rusty doorknob, ready for battle. Scratched into the bottom of one of his black and grey socks are the words, "Troubled Waters ~ 5114."
Didn't spend any scrip, and still got a pretty nice reward for only managing to rescue one prisoner (but modestly less than anyone else who I asked). The custom spell preparation is wonderful for River's Resters and Beacon Officers! So I'll be looking into another run I think.

>we were told no pets of any kind
I did read a lot of the forum posts before going, but I admit, not all of them. I actually figured it wouldn't work.
That aside, not being able to bring the pet along is one thing. Not being able to get rid of it and it interfering with the number one quest goal is quite another.
I understand it's an issue with minor summoning itself. To that end, I just wanted to point it out in bold so any other sorcerers have a slightly larger chance of not ending up in the same situation unable to use 'second' 'other' 'third' and so on.

FAO: Grand Lord Raincail, Keeper Kaldonis, Astru, Vault Guardian Fyrentennimar, Bozby
I opened all the boxes I picked up from under the bench on the schooner last night. No items of note came from them - one rucksack, which I sold for 1.2K or something. Coins and gems accumulated amounted to just 100K (rounded up). I handed the armor, weapons and stuff to you guys, but don't really need anything from that - cash nor items. I snuck a few uncut emeralds into my pouch during the hunt, so am more than satisfied. The rest is yers. Just buy me a drink of ale next time we meet - haha.
Contact me in the game or out of it. I have your notes. Can get someone to FWI, Mule, Teras or Landing if needed.
Incidentally I love the nets from the treasure pile. Always wanted one!! If I wasn't so afraid of accidentally throwing my claidh instead of the net, I'd actually train in thrown weapons! :D

Re: Interesting session on 05/11/2014 05:09 AM CDT
Fyrentennimar is the treasurer of Beacon so I appointed him to take care of it. Probably what happens is you are just owed a small amount of coins from our end and you keep what you got (since the haul was between 100 to 200k per person, I forget). Bozby is still owed a fair haul from what we got, too.
Most of sold off our stuff from the treasure piles. I'm sure some of it might have been neat, but that's so much stuff to dig through! It was about 1 to 2 hours just getting rid of the loot as we could. I think we pawned almost everything, except people kept a few things they liked. One two handed sword was 3x and decently damage weighted, but it's kind of too much effort to get more than 35k for that.
All the BHA group (named people minus Bozby) can be found on LNet. Most have FWI access.

Incidentally I love my mini's. Got two now - both ale specialist - hahaha.
One is a brawler sporting my illusion.
The other is a THW claid swinger.
Going for the hattrick today!
1. a dwarven ale specialist miniature
Painted deep, dark eyes gaze from the dark smoke rising from her black rough-hewn face of the masterfully detailed likeness of a dwarven ale specialist. She has waist-length, wild flame-red hair glistening with sweat and forming multiple snakelike tendrils that writhe independently of each other. A pair of leather gauntlets embedded with iron at the knuckles cover her hands, clenched and ready for battle. Scratched into the bottom of one of her wide-cuffed boots are the words, "Troubled Waters ~ 5114."
2. a dwarven ale specialist miniature
Painted eyes gaze from the face of the masterfully detailed likeness of a dwarven ale specialist. She has shoulder length, wiry deep red hair arranged in an intricately twisted roll at the back of her head and held in place by some grey and blue irregular rocks. She grasps a battle-marred vultite claidhmore, ready for battle. Scratched into the bottom of one of her wide-cuffed boots are the words, "Troubled Waters ~ 5114."
I'll need an idiots guide to using miniatures though. Raise, drop, push... anything else.
Cant wait to see these in action - haha

I think that's all, apart from when they lose a battle you have to FIX them.
They're super sweet though and do a few different actions. Mine does these ones (if she does others, I haven't seen them yet):
The trailblazer miniature takes careful aim with an acid-pitted ruic long bow and lets loose a targetted projectile at a halfling witch doctor miniature! Bullseye!
The trailblazer miniature gestures. Dozens of long thorns suddenly grow out from the ground underneath a halfling witch doctor miniature, but the miniature manages to jump out of the way!
An aelotoian trailblazer miniature slings an acid-pitted ruic long bow over her shoulder and stops to gather up her arrows.
I'm in love with the fact that she picks up her tiny little arrows. Also, the miniature spike thorn is cute too.

Someone else ran into an issue where they were holding their familiar when they were gathered and could not drop it.
I've updated the once-per-minute message before the quest to remind questers to get rid of any pets.

That was me. I was trying to sneak my chameleon on board to do some testing and it back fired.
You can't drop a familiar on the boat and you can't dismiss them while you're holding them.
I really enjoy this quest. I would enjoy it more if you had better warning of when you're about to be kicked off the boat.
It's painful to see several backpacks and cloaks full of non chest loot be left behind.

Been there - Always best to star picking up items a few minutes before the quest actually finishes and not when the boat pulls away from the burning ship.
_______________
So - my solo run... solo in the sense that the three of us questing hunted separately:
1: I got two miners packs for under the bench - I hoped the packs would be sufficiently different from the other questers' containers to enable me to dump my own collected items in them and not get confused. Generic backpacks would have been confusing.
2: We all managed to get the prisoners to safety within the first 45 minutes. (I use the word 'we' very loosely as I kept losing my prisoners) Working separately was so much better, as the younger member did not have to contend with Krolvin that matched the older questers' training level.
3: We helped each other out when needed which was good.
4: There was simply too much to carry out - which is a good thing, in a way. Howwever without the assistance of the others I just couldn't have managed. (Too much loot is never a negative thing but I need to be a little more discerning about what I pick up)
5: I'm hoping that the Krolvin language earcuff that I acquired is going to be something that can be used outside of the Quest -e.g Cross into Shadows; Future invasions of Krolvin etc. Otherwise this might be the most expensive piece of fluff I have purchased - haha. In any event a RP item was always something I was going to go for and as Bremerial doesn't smoke, the earcuff was next on my list. I only read Vanah's response to Fyrentennimar's question a moment ago.
<Note that it only works on stuff that's keyed to the language system. This works on some krolvin creatures, but not others.
<Vanah
All in all an interesting experience today. Thanks
I'll take a rest from the quest for a week and then may get ready for some more.... MAY :D

How would you like to see this accomplished? The schooner doesn't sail until the warship is razed and all questers are on board (or you run out of time. I have no way of knowing when to give the warning before this happens. The first thing the sailor does once the boat is razed and everyone is on board is give the warning that anything left behind when the boat docks will be lost. There are three minutes between the final warning and docking. Three minutes is a lot of time when you aren't scrambling; I can't make this time longer. There isn't feasibly a way for me to warn you any sooner. The sailor can be ASKed about storage and will tell you that things need to be picked up before the schooner docks. You can't have more time to stay on the schooner; I need to get you out of the quest area so the quest can reset.

Re: Interesting session on 05/11/2014 01:34 PM CDT
Vanah,
As a veteran of four runs (do I get a badge for that by the way) the problem is that our eyes are bigger than our containers or our strength a lot of the time. So there is a degree of 'god I can't carry this..panic..panic..' when the schooner sets sail.
It took me 1 second to pick up my first container. 5 seconds to realise I couldn't pick up my other pack and about a minute to come up with a solution. But I knew what to expect. Three minutes may not actually be long enough for everyone, which is why I have suggested folks get back to the boat a few minutes before the schooner actually moves from the warship.
I don't know about the mechanics of the messaging but can you include a reminder when we get the 5 minute warning?
>You sense that there are five minutes left before the schooner sails for Wehnimer's Landing (and add something like) and realise you have only 8 minutes to gather your items from the schooner's deck.
Admittedly, we do get notified on the schooner|
>The burley sailor says, "Grab up any things yer might have dropped here. Anythin' left on da deck or unner da bench ah split up with mah crew!
...but the sailor omits the fact you only have three minutes. Also I suspect the sailor' swords may sometimes gets lost in player casting, movement, speaking etc. (I actually didn't notice this messaging at all until today's run where we had only three on the quest and consequently where it was a lot less 'noisy')
Just a thought... Hopefully these are helpful comments from someone who is enjoying this quest almost as much as ale...

Can the warning be in yellow so it stands out a bit better?
Something similar to when the prisoners glitched and you told us to stop rescuing prisoners and then again told us to resume rescuing.
The yellow highlighting made it stand out even through the screen scroll of krol slaughter.
My other suggestion would be to just dump everything not just people back at the docks. Or to give us an option to exit the ship on our own vs being forced off.

If people are setting the warship alight before everyone is back on the schooner, they need a reproving finger waggled in their face. Bad pyromaniacs! Only takes a few seconds to count bodies on the schooner.
Give me their names and I will have them tied to the mast and flogged mercilessly! (I promise not to enjoy it...much)
Haha
That being said, as the ship can be set alight at the very last minute, I wouldn't want to use this as the prompt to go pick my stuff up. Vanah's confirmation of additions to messaging and agreement to have it highlighted in yellow, should be more than sufficient. But if it isn't i am going to sign on as a member of the schooner's crew so I can have a share of anything left behind.

Yep, exactly! Being on our first run, we saw the messaging about not leaving loot, but we were slightly surprised it was only a few minutes. I think we only left on bag behind with 4 boxes and mostly junk and an uncut emerald. So even when we were scrambling, weren't sure if we should be, we almost managed it. To me it's just always nice to have a few extra details in game; after that, all whining is naff.
>Yellow?! Who leaves monster bold in yellow? Red 4 Life!
I used to do it in red. At some point, I think when I was using Warlock2, this was one setting that the FE could not be forced to save, and it only takes a few times logging in and manually changing a setting before you get used to it and give up. Now I'm used to it, and in fact, since I'm colorblind, so it turns out yellow on black pops out a lot more than red. I recently switched to profanity and have been trying to organize and streamline my highlights. Like blocks of highlights for each spell circle. However, I'm trying to decide if matching monsterbold yellow is really good for the following list:
<highlight fg='ffff00'> raging tempest| a tightly focused tempest| cloud| a giant (burning|sticky) web| an expansive (sticky|burning) web| a large (sticky|burning) web| a big (burning|sticky) web| a small black kettle| a long thorny vine| a raging sandstorm| a windy vortex| some night hound breath| a billowing shadowy cloud| an insect swarm</highlight>
It's probably far from complete, but it's a good start for 'things in a room you should care about'.
I'm also not sure if profanity gets 100% of monsterbold right, either. For instance, the CHE HOUSE MOD doesn't seem to get monsterbold. But it's alpha or beta software after all, and has surprisingly few issues or glaringly absent features for that!

Hah, I use red for creatures/monster bold. Speech is blue. Whispers are green. Links are a little darker blue than speech. I really don't highlight players, just GMs. And that color is the one found in the upper right color of the color palette on the Text Highlights in StormFront (SGMs are a light blue though). Yellow are my NPCs (and some of Tamuz's and Vanah's).

I still have 20k each for you from our hunt. From boxes only, as I handed everything else over for you guys to sell etc. I am around today so will try and track you down. Shared loot is shared loot after all and I don't want you to think I've forgotten to distribute the cash accumulated from the boxes I got opened.. Even though I had until this morning...shhhhh!
If you see me first, please contact me. Your cash is burning a darn hole in pocket!
