I went on my first Troubled Waters run today and really had a fun time. We went in a private group of 2 (both level 70) as we wanted to avoid any issues with mixed level characters on our first trip out. The adventure was pretty much just as advertised: Kill Krolvin, rescue prisoners, and collect some loot along the way! Thanks to staff for creating such a fun event and successfully matching expectations to what was delivered!
Thanks for the tips!
I read through this folder and wanted to thank everyone and especially Bremerial for the tips provided. We each brought two large containers (one for each hand at the end) for under the bench and this worked out great!
Quest feedback
Pacing: I thought the pace of the event was pretty well timed and very exciting. For the first 30-45 minutes of the event I felt somewhat overwhelmed by the number of krolvin and was wondering if we were going to be able to rescue any prisoners at all let alone all of them. It seemed like we would clear a wave just in time for the next to arrive! We finally got them under control and managed to find and start rescuing prisoners.
Puzzles: We were able to get to the treasure room and the captains quarters. I thought the puzzles were fun without causing us spend all of our precious time trying to work through them. I suspect there are more things we didn't get to see based on some of the comments in this thread - something for next time!
Service suggestion: We fortunately had the foresight to bring an uncurse potion with us onto the ship. One of the krolvin dropped a black ora weapon and if we hadn't brought this along it could have made for an unfun last 30 minutes or so. It would be great if UNCURSE was one of the services offered for blackscrip in case another group is less prepared.
Loot: Some of the jewelry things could not be sold at the jewelers which seemed a bit odd. A couple of pendants as well as the golden goblets are examples of items I thought the jeweler should be interested in.
Prizes: I enjoyed the selection of 'stock' prizes offered and look forward to seeing new themed offerings in the future.
Custom mini
The custom minis are a super awesome inspired extra and I really appreciate that these are being offered for the first month. I would LOVE to see these offered at sometime in the future as well! Here is the miniature I ended up with:
a human purifier miniature
Painted blue eyes gaze from the tanned face of the masterfully detailed likeness of a human purifier. He has very long, golden brown hair swept back from the temples. He grasps an abyss black bastard sword, ready for battle. Scratched into the bottom of one of his double-laced boots are the words, "Troubled Waters ~ 5114."
Results
We were able to successfully rescue all of the prisoners (HUZZAH!) and as near as I can tell we killed nearly all of the Krolvin as well (we did a final sweep before razing the ship). We were each rewarded 150 blackscrip for our efforts!
For people that are interested in such things here is a rough breakout of what we were able to carry off. We ended up leaving a number of boxes behind as well!
- 386k worth of general gems/misc loot.
- In addition to the above 16 uncut diamonds/emeralds.
- several interesting/scripty articles of clothing.
- a woven salt-encrusted net with polished mithril weights (4x hurling with grapple flares)--> This is a great item for my warrior!
- several very nice enhancive items (including brawling, EMC, Logic, and Spell Aim).
- Mage Rechargeable Cloak of Shadows item (crumbly but a very exciting find!).
- several sets of armor with fun descriptions.
- A 2x weighted knuckle-blade with an interesting custom show.
- An invar (+2) Claidhmore
- 5x large shield.
Quite the haul really!
We both had an excellent time and felt it was worth the price of admission. We'll be back to rescue more prisoners from the evil Krolvin again!
Captains Quarters
While we were able to gain entrance to the captains quarters we really couldn't figure out anything to do there. We only had about 5 minutes to consider it before heading out to raze the ship so maybe we overlooked some things. Without providing any spoilers, has anyone been successful in doing something once in the captains quarters?
