Merchanting/Participation/Title event idea on 08/27/2015 02:08 AM CDT
game/merchant I think would be super awesome: lets say you get like.. 10 people spun. You all join the merchant and go somewhere private. Then, each of you tells your background/personal story/things you've done.. while you're telling the story you make sure you're not in the group.. then all the other people spun and the merchant design a custom title for you based on what you've said and how you've acted.

Except, you win the right game, you can get a custom title. You attend simucon and drop 3m, you can get a package deal(honestly not sure if it includes a title, sry). You make sure you show up on the right day for some random gathering that you don't actually know what's going on, you get a custom title. You attend the right random merchant, you can get other things along similar lines,
I think, in general, titles for Great Deeds and Epic Quests.. and adding new storylines.. are things that should be few and far between. Knight-Errant, Defender of Wehnimer's Landing, things that give you actual status within the viable working realms. However, titles can and should be a method of further customizing your character like signature verbs and custom spell preps. We can do this, to some degree, with the skill, profession, bounty, and premium title options. We can further do this with custom titles won in the previously mentioned options. As long as the titles don't imply insane station, I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed a little more chances to customize these.
Kobold Friend(after a story about defending kobolds from some other newb, maybe), Pie Destroyer(because someone really likes pies.. or hates pies), Love Nest Prioprietor(dibs), the Half-Handed(after telling a story of trying to learn to juggle swords or something), the Siegery Master (really likes siegery miniatures a bit too much), the Forbidden Dance Survivor (saw plur a few too many times one day), etc etc etc
Just because it's a custom title it doesn't necessarily have to be Great and Amazing and Heroic/Villainous. If there were more chances to win custom titles, I feel like there might be more room to play with them, more chances of getting something that really fits your character, or something silly/random/mundane that you are proud of, but isn't exactly life altetering or anything.
I don't think it should be a common service. I just think it should be MORE common than it is.
