"In a perfect world with unlimited hours in the day, maybe! In the meantime, part of my long list of things to review post-EG are scripts that people mentioned missing this year, whose owners have left staff. Hopefully we can find them a happy new home before next year.

If there are specific merchant services you'd like to see that haven't been available in a long time, you can post in the Merchant Events and Suggestions topic in this (Q/S/E) folder, too. I don't mean things like "please release 8x weapons more than 92 times a year," but things like "I haven't seen the bags that eat my face 3x a day in ten years" or "I haven't been able to get my arm greaves of green-hulky-goodness unlocked since Koar was a kid."

I am just going to go down the wiki. Leave it to everyone else to see how popular these items are.
1.Adventurer Clothing- Do not believe it was at EG.
2.Armor and Weapon moods-Did not see it at EG.
3.Dancing Shoes-Did not see it at EG.
4.Dizwhig Cloak- Never even heard of these until I picked up the wiki page.
5.Gory Weapons-Didnt see it at EG
6.Metallic Gowns-Saw the gowns didn't see any unlocking

Dancing shoes and gory weapons were definitely at EG, but I didn't see any unlocking when I was on. There was also a fully unlocked morphing container as a T4 prize.

They did do dancing shoe unlocking. Apparently there's two different script-sets but she was unlocking both and I can now sway my hips in a saucy manner, yay!

This shop was not at EG this year, but there were morphing containers in the feeders at EG, and also at Festival of the Fallen AND Arbigail's Birthday Party. Unlocking them is on Xerria's list!

I understand that these things are on Xerria's list but I'm in Platinum. We only see Xerria every other month. Word is that she missed her scheduled visit on the 30th as well. I appreciate that all these things are on Xerria's list but considering how limited our Xerria visits are I would like it if other options were considered for Platinum.

Honestly, for Plat? Given the number of players and that they actually do have item attrition?

I think you could put an automated NPC on Four Winds and let each Plat account unlock on fluffy script each month, instead of having to have a GM come in like Xerria visiting.

(Note: specifically fluffy scripts, not combat goodness like Ithzir armor. I'm talking the gowns, shoes, et cetera.)

Maybe "two per year" for functional goodness, like morphing containers and so on.

Keith, you said that and I went "Huh?!" and lo-and-behold, Xerria did miss her Halloween event. I am so sorry! It got lost on my calendar amidst all my job stuff! Xerria will definitely come to Plat ASAP.

As for Plat, I do understand that Xerria visits you far less often. But I also note that when she DOES come, there's generally only a handful of people who attend. Perhaps this is a schedule conflict? Lack of interest? Lack of item knowledge? It's difficult for me to know. I will investigate some other avenues that will perhaps work out better for the Plat folks, but in the meantime, I apologize for missing my last visit! My mind is like a sieve these days! ;)

I will say for me the times the last couple visits have not been ideal. That is a me problem, not a you problem though. Mid afternoon on a weekend I'm probably doing something with my kids. I do think you will have a lot more interest after EG however. A lot of us picked up things to unlock.

I was going through my EG loot, and found a pair of slippers, and lo and behold, the ANALYZE told me "this can be unlocked by Toffit or an approved apprentice" and suddenly I was happy.

I would like to, as respectfully as possible, request THIS as a requirement for item scripts going forward, and that they include the Merchant name if possible. I'm hoping that the GS tools will easily allow searching all Analyze for a Merchant name to quickly update the scripts if a new GM/Merchant must take over (possibly even a bulk replace) but following the pattern would reduce my headache entirely.

The preferred alternative, which I believe was mentioned elsewhere, is to ensure that scripts have a clearly demarked common name, in the Analyze. Joola and Veola are good candidates, those names should be in the script, that way people can just refer to the common name. For instance, I know Hair Baubles still get unlocked... can we get a name for that script that could be part of the announce, rather than just "Unlocking Hair Baubles" which may not always be the script they mean. The "two dancing shoes" is a decent example of needing true names (although it's a bad example since one GM unlocks both but I hope you get the point). Don't have "dancing shoes" and "other dancing shoes" as the names... please.


Obviously, this can only be for going forward, but I think Shock Lances should say "This weapon is a Shock Lance" in the analyze, and possibly "This Weapon is Upgraded or Customized by Farain or an apprentice" since Blusteri was doing it too. However, I notice nowhere on the shock lance does it say "This is a shock lance" or Shock Weapon or whatever the official name is.

Do nerve staves? Can't check right now.

I love that Xerria does all those things. Her list is extremely extensive, but it is not the same as having them available at Ebon Gate. I am Premium and try to take advantage of Xerria whenever possible but she has restrictions on her and limits. As she should since she comes so often. I think it was a great idea to have a GM take on the hard work of starting off these unlocks and it was much needed. We know this because Xerria draws a crowd and some who wait for 24 hours (seems like) just in case. Ebon Gate is a standard members chance at getting these types of items unlocked and they should have it there as well.

IMO When applicable a paid event (Like EG) should have upper tier unlocks available in greater numbers and Auction/Raffle level unlocks as well in appropriate limited numbers. IE If an item has 4 tiers, tier 4 is Auction level and Tier 1 is off the shelf, then Tier 2 and 3 should be made available and an Auction or raffle should be done as part of a master plan to release these Scripts into the game. It does not have to be a Monty Haul every script needs to have its best thing given out for each EG but certainly more than what I saw. Again IMO. This is done with Sonic and Ranger companion alterations isn't it? It is done with Xerria as the list says only such and such amount available this month/year. Limited controlled release in a planned manner. Why isn't it done with all scripts?

I believe it all goes back to the policy of creator control and the lack of a database. Neither is likely to be changed. Luckily when it comes to scripts, more people are contributing on the Wiki. It would be great if more GMs did, too. I don't think I'm asking them to do much more work based on an assumption that somewhere they have a full description of any script that goes into/out of QC that can be copy/pasted.

Formatting can be taken care of by someone else if it's that much of a hindrance to contribution.

I don't think any NEW items released at EG this year have an auction quality variant. Wounded wear Maximum tier doesn't seem to have auction restrictions, and neither do shock lances. Sure, shock lances will take a lot of unlocks, but after you get X, you'll have them all. Other items released last year did. Glearnim bracers and Dawdly pots, among others. Several of those went out at EG last year. So as far as getting the auction tiers out for items, they've happened for any major script I've seen in the last year.

Daxela's jewelry boxes have both a lesser and greater auction tier (T5 and T6). Several T6's have gone out, and a few T5's have had the opportunity to be made, although I don't know if it happened. Regardless, in the year since release, there have been plenty of opportunities (I know that world has many T4's, and Through Xerria at least 1 T5/T6 a year will happen). It helps that Xerria is controlled by the script owner so that is short circuited.

Nerve staves have a "top" tier (debatable if it's auction) but it was well available through duskruin. There's a lot of top tier nerve staves out there.

It's important to note that I don't think anything Auction quality is supposed to happen through Xerria, she really is supposed to be fluff unlocks with at most minor utility unlock potential (spider bags technically get better per spider, but it's marginal at best, and a 10 spider bag isn't auction quality compared to a 1). However, so far any script that's released in the past year at least has seemed to have a good plan for how it's going to get out into the world. The only possible gap is that there was no T3 to T4 unlock for Dawdly.. which could make for a pretty nice raffle actually to reward people who've worked hard on their pots, but that would still be equivalent to an auction quality item and should be treated as such, maybe one for a year after initial release.

Am I writing it so it seems I mean no items are being unlocked during the course of a year? That is not my intention. Unlocks happen and that is a great thing but I just feel that certain events (pay, free, storyline, or whatever fill in the blank event) should have a more extensive inclusion of unlocking.

We are in agreement though I will be thankful for any top tier that does get released

I have noticed people saying hey this was released in fully unlocked version. That is not the same as someone unlocking this item I have been carrying around for x amount of time/years (on me, my lockers, my locker characters, forgotten, found again and placed where I could get them quickly etc) hoping to get it unlocked.

That item I am tied to. That item I have personalized even if i haven't altered it in any way. That item I have run to my locker when the merchant announced that if someone is picked it could get unlocked. I have invested in it like I would on my favorite coffee mug. Thanks for the new coffee mug it looks awesome but even if its better in every way I will still miss my coffee mug.

When possible, I try to do this now on all the scripts that I write. If I can't do that, (ie: if I have no idea what the merchant's name is at the time, or if it's not a script associated with a shop or whatever) then I'll try to include the original shop where it was sold.

The orphaned spider bag scripts have found a new home. No promises on when more will be released/unlocked at this point, but they've been adopted by a current GM. Progress!

I'd love to see these things return:

Kobold sweatshop (allowed you to take a pattern/material/item and alter it yourself to some degree IE: take a black-beaded red gown and add embellishments like a pink lace underskirt and create "a black-beaded red gown with a pink lace underskirt")
Wavedancer dresses (heavily scripted, they started as <gem> and <gem>-beaded gowns sold off shelf in a merchants shop that started with a B I think, awesome dresses even if they came back as unlocks)
Unlocking of this jewelry: a beaded black coral necklace, a beaded jet black bracelet (can't find the shop or merchant)

yes please ... and unlockable by who (or who made it) so we know when the particular inventor is being honored by having upgrades unlocks offered.


And, could that be for
- inventory,
- locker manifests, and
- shop manifiests.


Most of the time when a specific unlock is available, I have no clue about whether anything any of my chracters have is unlcokable, or whihc merchant it came for, and most times, not even what the unlocks are.

Supposedly I have good stuff, but poor Clunk just looks around feeling poor, tired, and all confused.
Not a bad thing I suppose, anything that motivates the dwarf to get back to work in the forge cain't be a bad thing.

Unfortunately, "unlocking" scripts is not a specific setting/command/verb/gesture/etc. Different scripts are unlocked in different ways, for a variety of reasons. This wouldn't be something we could make a catch-all for.

It's a great idea that wouldn't be feasible on our end currently, without providing a case-by-case for each and every script you interact with. Look at something like ANALYZE for an example. The additional information available was introduced 5 years ago, and we update it for the vast majority of new scripts or whenever something is updated. But even at that rate, there are a number of scripts still lacking the additional information.

Without getting into too much detail, the "unlocking" could either be a boolean or integer value, stored in a number of different locations. And that, my dear friends, is why you establish standards early. Before things proliferate and it's too late to standardize!
