It was fun, it has been a long time since we did this. I didn't precisely like how you duplicated some items, seemingly quite a bit. A few items it seemed like there were 5+ of them.

Overall I thought it was heavy on gear, light on other items. It had, for me, very few wow items (though they existed), and some of the best were things we'd seen before. I would have liked less gear (since I wasn't really in the market for gear), more magical artifacts, enhancives, self chargers, self knowledge, or just interesting and weird magical artifacts. Looking back at the list, there weren't a lot of non-container worn items (the sort of items usually being magical in some fashion, jewelry etc). I would have also really liked a heroism item or two, every prior auction I can remember had heroism something going on. Its a very popular spell. I got the wound transferring mirror, and I've not used it yet since I am apparently waiting for an attunement to take hold, but supposedly it is a bit Dorian Gray like, if I get wounded during hunting, I can gaze into the mirror, and transfer all my wounds and scars to the mirror, continue hunting. Go back to town, transfer them all back, and get them healed. In a way, it gives me a disposable body to use while hunting. This is the sort of neat magical artifact I wish they had had more of.

I can see how others, who would have been in the market for gear, would have loved it though. I thought the mix of gear types was good, appealing to a variety of professions.

We definitely hit some new records for max bids.

But if I were to be honest, and I say this with much love because I know how much work this was and this was for us, and not a cash grab thing, all you needed to enter was silvers. I walk away a little underwhelmed with many more silvers left than I thought I'd have.

I loved the whole auction. I got my item pretty early but stayed for nearly the whole thing-was just a lot of fun watching the bidding and the just amazingly inventive items the gms came up with. Really really great job in every respect, from original item design, selection and quantity to management of the process.

In terms of duplications of items, I think it made a lot of sense. You really did want as many people as possible thinking they were walking away with something decent.

I did have a last minute shock when I learned I had to travel to WL for the auction from the Elven lands and almost missed the start of the action. Just assumed (because I haven't been to an auction in over a decade I think) that it'd be like EG, DR, Briarmoon, whatever and there'd be an entrance in each city.

Thank you for your dedication, one and all. Players too!

Holy cow GMs! That was incredible today. The amount of work that you put into the auction, into the items, into the delivery, quickly fixed the bidding limit amount and handled it when we did go over 200m on items. Just incredible all the way around!

Thank you for everything involved with the auction!

It is unfortunate that there was little attempt to limit bids to the total silvers on your person at the start of the event. Swapping coins among alts and allowing proxies to sell slots using borrowed silvers definitely biased the outcome of many bids.

I did hand my note over to the other account after I won, but wound up not needing it, because he started with more than his winning bid anyhow.

Then I took the money away from me and put it back into my account. :)

Thanks for an amazing auction!

I loved that a huge crowd made very little screen scroll. Really, even LOOK was safe. Bless you!

I knew I would not be able to afford anything, but I am still SO glad I was there to see it.

What a fantastic event, thank you. I was making a list of things I had an interest in before the event and it started to be more wants than not wants! I was glad to see such a wide variety of mechanical, fluff, utility, and price ranges for such a broad spectrum of attendees.

Seconded.

The Good Thing about the auction was seeing all the Great Stuff that is out there.

The Bad Thing about the auction was knowing none of my characters will likely never be rich enough to compete in those auctions.

The Ugly Thing about the Auction was that thief prevention sack. Although, it would be a natural item for combining with either Hoys loincloth or Plurs Diaper.

Statistically this was the least gear heavy auction we've ever had, so I don't quite understand the thought that it was gear heavy, unless you definition of gear is different than mine. I presume that to you, gear means weapons and armor and the like. It's also worth noting that of the gear items, the most common category was the runestaff, and that has to be a first. There were some items that were repetitive and didn't break the mold, but they were quite utilitarian and had no trouble selling, (think 5/200/33% containers).

To me, what was best about this auction was items precisely like the mirror you won. A spell item is pretty vanilla, as is an 6x flaring axe, and I think staff correctly reached that conclusion and worked hard to go above and beyond auctioning off a bunch of 6x flaring weapons, enhancives, x/day items, and SK items. Those are great and all, but there were some spectacular items at this auction, and some really fresh ideas that accomplished things in ways that were well beyond the standard spell or weapon. Examples: the mirror, the dwarf empath tattoo, the temporary homes, the eclipse item, the talons, the Captain Elanthia shield, the eonake glove, and more. Some of those are spectacular, some a little less so, but all of these items allowed you to do things outside the normal way we accomplish things, and that's what made the selection so great.

I walked away with nothing myself because my time was limited yesterday, but there were some very cool items I'd love to have, and hope that they come up for sale in the aftermarket.

+1

Couldn't have said it better. I was amazed at the variety, ingenuity, creativity and uniqueness of many of these items.
