well, I hear from my friend, that rangers now get snipping, and it's not like a one time deal, now I could be wrong, but wasn't sniping supposed to be a thief thing? being a thief myself, I would love to have this be a thief only thing. but I do belive we have a cookie that'll do the snipe for us, but that's kinda like a one shot deal. and what's with poaching, will that teach backstabbing? will rangers/thieves get bonuses to that? any and all answers are welcome
thanks

sniping is thief and ranger. You must be of sufficient circle to do it. Poaching is similar to sniping, in that it resets the hid/stalk timer, but only works on 4 legged type critters, and no it does not teach backstab.

Since thieves and rangers are both stealthy guilds (albeit thieves do have the throne of the stealthiest guild) it was considered a good idea to allow both of us to snipe but ussing different skills (rangers their scouting skill (which makes no IC sense) and thieves their backstab (a small stretch). Oddly thieves asked for this skill for years.

When a gm decided to make it...he did it for rangers. Thieves were added after much screaming as an 'after thought'. Oddly enough alot of thief ideas end up in the ranger suggestion folder....but..ill stay away from a guild vs guild post.

Hmm yes almost all my posts are opinions. If you disagree with my opinions thats you. I rarely sight the intentions of gm's or what happened. But since the said situtaiton was posted 2-3 times in the folder archives I was under the assumption it was true. Dammi corrected me, and its not like im disputing it. I was given false information and I should have verrified it better before trying to feed it to someone else.

Albeit if you thinkg my opinions arnt up to par, thats your own problem:)

No. Thieves do not have to use a cookie to snipe.

Sniping works as a basic ability, like a thief trying to backstab. You must satisfy the situation, and succeed at the skills required. It does not need any cookie munching, albeit many would help (in their own ways).

thieves CAN use a cookie to enhance a snipe, but they don't have to.

Also, in regards to sniping....

Thieves are allowed to snipe far sooner then a ranger can. A ranger cannot learn to snipe until 40th circle.

~Akashera (just hit 40th not too long ago, just so I could snipe<G>)

>>Damissak>>Huh?

I think Akashera is making the same mistake a few others have and think that a certain khri has anything to do with sniping, just because of its name (it doesn't).

Akashera, sniping is based on ability, period, or so we were told. Yes, there is a circle limit but those circles were set based on typical abilities at that circle level. So even if the circles are different, they aren't by much and the skills would be the same.
