More and more often I find myself in situations where simply talking to someone just isn't enough, because unlike IRL, I can't make them listen to me, or at least make them more inclined to do so. Having fiddled with thump, which just seems like a rather dumb way to deal with things...I've decided I don't find it to be adequate for my needs. I want to be intimidating and I want the person that I'm speaking to to be more inclined to listen to me out of shear bloody terror. There are currently verbs in place, such as loom, the war trill and tail movement by the s'kras, etc. that do get the general gist...but I don't find them to be nearly as visually stunning as they should be to provoke the proper feelings from their recipients. Now, I wasn't quite sure whether to post this here or in verbs, so i will probably post it both places. Either left as just a verb, or as an ability, I would hope it would act something along the lines of dismantle. Each guild and each race would have their own customized verb. If I dared to hope, there would even be two versions. One simply for intimidation, the other just a plain and simple death threat/war cry which would give consent to the person that it was directed at.

Firstly, just plain and simple intimidation. Verb would go something like

intimidate <x--person> <barbarian--guild/race type to use>

The barbarian would see:

You pull your hand up to your face and scratch a single jagged fingernail brutally across your cheek. As the pain hits you and the adrenaline starts to pump you let loose a violent roar, glaring down <x> as your heart starts to pump rapidly. When the blood from your cheek reaches your lips you suck it up and spit it out in disgust, tensing your body for confrontation. <X> looks at you with surprise, and you hope you've gotten his attention.

The object of the barbarians annoyance would see:

Mr. Barbarian puts a hand to his face and draws a jagged fingernail brutally across his cheek. As blood starts to ooze from the wound he lets out a violent roar and his eyes focus directly on yours, veins standing out in rage on his neck. When the blood trickles to his lips he spits it to the ground, sets into a combative stance and glares ferociously through you. You get the feeling that maybe you've made him mad somehow, and that perhaps you should listen to what he has to say.

Nasty, violent, etc. Paladin would go something like....

Mr. Paladin draws himself to his full height, and his eyes turn dark and hard as he stares into your eyes, perhaps into your very soul. He snorts in disgust and points a steady finger directly at your heart, then gestures for you to come closer. In a clear, booming voice, he utters only one word. "Listen."

I'm rather at a loss as to how a gnome would be intimidating but umm...I'm sure they could figure it out.

Now, the second set of verbs (hey, these could even be one of those special combat moves we keep hearing about) for a "commoner", something like this could happen.

You feel an arm slide around your throat from behind, a hand grabbing your chin, and twisting your neck violently. A voice hisses in your ear "Do you like death, fool? I am it's messenger, and death is hungry." You feel a jagged edge pressed into the base of your spine. A slimey tongue gently flicks at your earlobe, "However, I like my prey to see its master before its demise." With a single strong movement you are simultaneously pushed forward and spun around to face your antagonist. Your fate is in your hands.

These could either be left as just an advanced version of the verbs, or turned into a skill with roundtime and checks, etc.

The second is more of a dream, and probably more of an ability than a verb. But I was thinking there might be some sort of circle req on both, say 50-70th+? I know in a lot of guilds new abilities/verbs/etc. get very scarce around there and I thought this would be pretty neat and something that I would definately like to be able to do.
Please, if anyone has an opinion on this give me feedback.

Interesting...
I had visions of young snerts peeing themselves in terror, actually, but...

One point to ponder... Base of the spine... isn't that my duff?
It had better be consent if you put a knife to my duff.

As nice as it would be to strike fear into the little-uns hearts some are just too stupid to understand and others just don't care.

At least we have thump to make them quiet for a few minutes.

Empaths have a unique message, if I remember right. Something about gently touching the target's throat.

You wave your blue wand at Droughtman.
The wand flashes brightly and shoots a bolt directly at Droughtman, causing him to immediately freeze in his tracks.
Kilan has just frozen Droughtman!
Roundtime: 1 seconds.
You cackle!
