According to the spellbook description;

The graceful black calligraphy on the coarse-grained grey parchment page of your spellbook reads:
*~ Notes on the Huldah's Pall spell ~*

Huldah's Pall is a trickster's spell. It sets up a lattice of magic around its hapless target that drains any attempt to channel mana into a spell pattern! This means that whomever is afflicted by Huldah's Pall will be unable to cast spells for a time, including those already prepared when you cast."

"Calling upon this spell's namesake is risky business, so make sure your target really is a spellcaster, or you will be the one afflicted with the curse! One can remove Huldah's Pall from its victim with Uncurse, so remember this if you forget the nature of Huldah!

Requires a minimum of 10 mana to be cast.

Now---the question is whether it drains mana or only functions with the word "cast"....

what brought this up, was a bard and a barbarian were mixing it up, and I did a little experimentation <with the bards permission> on the Bard with Huldah's Pall.

The bard was unable to Lull me with Albreda's Balm, also unable to Use Demriss Resolve <I resisted>. I then cast Huldah's on him--sucessfully. However, he was still able to Lull the other people in the room even though the "hands" were clenching him.

The Barbarian Roared afterwards effected everyone in the room.

Now, is this waiting for Bardic Magic to be included into Magic 2.0 for enchantes to be stopped by the Pall? Or will Bards be immune to this even though they are indeed magic-users, and hence mana users?

My guess is it's just waiting on the enchante pack. Note the bard did count as a valid target in so far as Huldah didn't grab you instead. Although . . . Rigby did say that bards mix elemental mana and music in the way that sorcerers mix different mana types. So if we're not fueling our patterns entirely with mana, one wonders at the effects.

Huldah's Pall pulls apart the matrix when it's cast.

Until Bardic Magic 2.1 or whatever comes out, noone will know if the song matrix is the same as the spell matrix.

Huldah's Pall works on Bards because Bards in general are magic using characters. They use mana, can read spellscrolls and thus can cast spells.

from what i know it doesnt allow you to cast. You can prep you can still feel mana. Just cant cast. Its a way to disrupt your concentration when your ready to cast.

The messaging received when under the effects of Huldah's Pall I believe are identical to what you'd get if your spell got completely resisted... so I think that's how it works: makes it so all spells get instantly resisted.

Bardic Enchantes don't currently use any of those mechanics. You can't concentrate to sense an enchante effect, can't resist an enchante the same way you can a spell, or anything. All of this is being rewritten by Rigby as we speak. Once Magic v2.2: the Wrath of Bards has been released, I'm sure Huldah's Pall will act appropriately with regards to enchantes.
