Isn't this a bit high?
>You have learned Glythtide's Gift [gg] from a scroll and must maintain at least a rather low attunement to keep it.
>mana
>Attunement: [0%>>>>>>S>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>50%>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>100%]
I find that to be approximately 15% of my harness..
Before, I was required to keep 0 harness to retain GG... I find little point in such a spell needing that much attunement.. GG was GREAT back when I could use it without worrying about losing it...
now it's..eh..I'd rather learn PFE or something useful for 15-20% of my attunement being reserved.
Or does the attunement needed have something to do with my skills?

I believe it used to be a requirement of 1. But considering it's a scroll only spell designed for the Cleric guild, I think we can have a claim to it.
Frankly, I could care less. It's a fluff spell that I've never even cast once. However, to say that Clerics have no claim to the spell is saying Moon Mages had no claim to Heavy moonblade when it was scroll only - and that's just silly.

I was being serious too, it was told to us by a GMNPC that it was a cantrip all clerics knew where he was from. I feel it should be a cantrip here and cleric only. It's a gift from the gods which would of course naturally fall into clerical hands. We have the spell in our spellbooks so yeah I think it should be cleric only. Now I can point to the "OMG clerics get something good.TAKE IT AWAY!" attitude you seemed to place yourself no I don't find that amusing either

When did I say 'Take it away'? and when did I also say 'Clerics have no claim to it'?
I can't, for the life of me, identify where I was trying to say that in my initial post...
Ok, let me try to restate my original post: I was trying to say that I think the req is a tad high, seeing as how it used to be 1... THATS ALL.
I responded to, what seemed to be to me, a taunt, in my second post.

OMG!!! Smite Horde isn't FAIR!!! Paladins can kill a buncha undead and that's OUR specialty!! Someone look into this.. it ain't FAIR....
responses that we got almost 2 years ago when SHO was released? So when the Clerics did this to another guild's spell/ability, that's ok, but when clerics are the recipients.. that's not fair?
Ohh.. and just remember, any changes to your spells won't be because of any "complaints" by others.. but rather, because the GMs looked at them and found problems with the spell.. all on their own, unswayed by cries of "foul".... or so we were told about Smite Horde.. many times.

Umm totally different point but I see what yer getting at, GG, OM, Hulp, Halo etc don't infringe on ANY other guild, so I'd move on from that point before I start busting out on my "Clerics SHOULD be invincible since we are the chosen of the gods" and the " I think the gods would have the power to take everything away from all those heathens" trips.

to even compare the two situations wouldn't quite be accurate. It wasn't clerics for the most part that were complaining about Smite Hoarde. A certain uber-magically trained paladin sorta brought it to the attention of some on the boards all by himself....
For the record, I think Paladin Or Cleric things that kill Undead are cool.

obviously the GM's were completly swayed by the complaining, it had nothing to do with a problem that was in the coding...nope, obviously GM's care more about what other guilds think about them than their own guild.

There was never any problem with SHo's coding...
[A1 = 1150]
Er... ignore that part in the brackets.
Seriously, though, as far as I could tell from my experiments, there was never anything wrong with SHo that wasn't wrong with SF. It's just that a mass version of the old SF was pretty much impossible to properly balance since it was a very all-or-nothing spell based on mana more than skill. Obviously having it do nothing in the right circumstances won over it doing "all" when it should have.

What I had ment was I'm more inclined that people will believe a gm changed something not because there was a bug in it, than because people complain about it.
It's really a no win argument, since they told us "why" they changed it...that pretty much the end of the discussion except for those that "believe" it another way.
I changed it because I found a bug.
NO YOU DIDN'T, YOU CHANGED IT BECAUSE PEOPLE COMPLAINED.
Um...no, there was a bug in it.
SO YOU GOING TO LET OTHER GUILDS TELL US WHAT TO DO?

Please, my man. You're talking to the guy who used to watch his best friend, Clynlyn, kill DS with a 8-12 prep of SF. Clyn not only needed less mana, but also had no need to target them at all. THAT was unfair.
I gave up on saying that the possesions of other guild = unfair a long time ago. :) I just don't like when ours get grabbed at or chipped at. (See: OM; Huldalh's Pall; Halo; Mal; Empaths "healing" the undead, blah blah blah, everyone wants something from us - except raise. No one ever ASKS that their guild get raise, just that we get it, so they can be raised again.) :-)

13-16 was the real mana. Then they did the super crazy ultra hahaha paladins you aint gonna have it so easy tweak.
prep 13 harn 3 3xs and cast.
which was still pretty decent just not as great as it was.
now SF just totally isnt usuable at my actual hunting area. But i guess thats the point of paladin magic. It supplements our combat, it doesnt take it over.

I find it funny that nobody ever commented on high-circle Cleric magic. I was able to kill DS with 5 mana, and Adan'f with 6 every single cast (before magic 2.1). We were broken, vs undead.

Prolly cause nobody else could compare. This does make memories of TGS when a DS invasion occured less awing. Two clerics slaughtering DS spawns of 10 at a time in a matter of seconds. ::grunts::

Mainly because even if you raise a small question, you have frothing clerics try to tear your eyes out (statis).

actually as I recall, statis did comment on it alot that HE was indeed working well for him, but it didnt help him learn. So it was like a safetly blanket. It was quite frustrating to kill all those creatures with such a low prep, and NOT learn.

Wait, you don't do this already? Am I the only one? No wonder I don't have any friends....::weepy weepy::
~I.B.
And yes, lower the harness requirement, make the spell a cleric-only cantrip, and give it variations based on race. I don't want bloodgrog, I don't want windhaze, I don't want taffleberry rum punch, and I still have yet to get anything Mur-ish. For shame.
