Creating slivers from a moonblade using dazzle seems way to hard to me.
You're asking "Why is that Eldrad? The more mana you use in Dazzle more you make. Seems fair."
Glad you asked...
1. TKT isn't the 'shiznit' like it once was. Mainly young level mages will be using the spell.
2. Young level mages are going to run out of mana FAST trying to generate 50 slivers. (took me about 40 mana total to do it, imagine a 12 circle mage doing this, their slivers will be gone by the time they get their attunement back, not to mention that can't actually cast TKT with no attunement)
3. Slivers 'degrade' FAST. It doesn't take no time before they are gone.
So I ask, would it be so unbalancing if you just auto-created 50 slivers when you did the combo?
Personally I don't use TKT anymore, so it's not like I'm trying to help myself. I'm back after a 2 month leave from DR, and I'm noticing some stuff now that seems brutal, especially for young characters and I plan on speaking out on these issues.
Thanks
Eldrad

Uhm slivers are about the worst possible tkt ammo anyway....
the young people should find an item that fits within the cap of their weight range to throw and carry that with them and use ripple to clear the room of junk so they can just drop and use that one item.
Use the heaviest item you can use with tkt. Tree limbs or bundles or trunks all work well if you can throw them.

Am I the only one that sees a problem with recommending young mages use what is currently a very strong contended for our hardest spell to cast? I know with over 300 PM I can still only put like 20 mana or so in it... and even at min 10 mana I've had it miss items and it's only three pulses. That's not even getting started on the fact that after the preview it's got a decent pile of preqs that I would NOT recommend being the first few spells for a novice mage.

On those preqs (Just rembered as I hit post...) Isn't one of those preqs teleport? Which if I recall now has a 15th circle req on it? Making Ripple basically... what 21st at least (Needs WD still then ripple?) assuming they don't save slots?
At any rate it is NOT a low level spell.

er fine then they can pick up the stuff and stick it in a pack or use a compost rune or hunt something that doesnt drop stuff. The point was more of there is no reason to be using the slivers if any change should be made to them it shouldnt be the number you can make. But how effective they are with TKT... If you have a special ability based around tkt it shouldnt be sub par to using just about any item on the ground instead. The new tkt equation seems to take weight and possibly weapon stats into concideration so perhaps the slivers should "weigh" more.

(Note the following is totally worthless based on the fact you don't always get 50 slivers, and you get the same I believe be it a HMB, a MB or a SS)
10 stone Moonblade (As calced by a few people)/50 slivers = .2 stones. That's a feathered compaired to most items IG (And I suspect they actually "weight" a stone... I've never seen an item with fractional weight in DR). If you made them any heavier you'd be making a lot of mass from "somewhere" (And the first person so say mass energy conversion is getting hurt... that much mass made from the energy of dazzle... let's just say that dazzle would basically be it's own star for a moment.... oh and then the heat... hehe, you thought blackfire was bad?)

Eh then they could make it so the slivers explode on impact and do a bit more damage or somthing.
and Elderad...
If you are going to test, do the test with a constant mana ammount and try a variety of items from a sliver to the heaviest item you can throw at the set mana amount. Do each a few times on a fresh creature that you can use to guage the damage.

actually I find slivers to be some of the best ammo around you just have to use the right amount of mana for it, can't use to little cause then they don't do enough damage, can't use too much because then your just wasting mana and not getting any real affect out of it
I find them to be some of the best ammo for the fact that their light so they get the highest "speed" possible fairly low mana which actually causes them to do a good amount of damage, I find them to be more efficient then my drachys quill, which pre-dazzle/tkt comba, was the best ammo out there not sure where it stands in magic 2.1
