Hardly a surprise I'd say, but ripple doesn't seem to affect these types

It would be nice if something in our lunar spell arsenal could work on the non-corporeal undead.

hmmm I thought TK does work against non-corporeal undead?
Doesn't that put you ahead of Warmies in this regard?

Considering that this be venturing close to the clerical domain, it would be as acceptable as clerics getting their own version of teleportation.

thoughts of a cleric who would like as many TM options as moonies

TkT only works if you're using a blessed item for ammo. It also seems to be buggy as I, and several others, have posted about (Meys, for instance, seem to have insanely strong "skin" when it comes to stuff getting TkTed at them). As far as our spells affecting non-corporeal undead, here's my theory (and bear in mind, there may very well be some official theory that contradicts mine, as I'm just making this up off the top of my head, and drawing on information I recall from long ago):

Non-corporeal undead are supernatural. They exist mostly in another plane, but for whatever reason, we can see them here. They can manifest themselves on this plane to a certain extent. When they attack us, they're purposely manifesting a part of themselves on the physical plane. That's why they hit us and why we can parry with an unblessed weapon. For a short time, their claw, weapon, lips (meys) are physically in our world. When you swing a non blessed weapon at the critter, it passes through what is essentially a vision of the creature, because its physical manifestation is on that other plane. Blessing a weapon makes the weapon exists on both planes, so when a blessed weapon hits a mey, the part of the blade that exists on the other plane is hitting the physical part of the mey. The same goes for a blessed dagger being used for TkT ammo. Bugs have cropped up that allowed unblessed items to hit them, but they've all been fixed, as far as I know (At one time, about 1 out of 3 of those gowns the meys drop when dead could hit and kill another mey.. the other 2 times it'd pass through normally). As moon mages, we use a natural energy to interact with other forms of energy and matter. We follow the laws of physics. (Elanthian laws, at least, which are close but not exactly the same as Earth laws.) Assuming that even the undead follow laws of physics, they're still not physically on Elanthia when we're attacking them. As such, when we manipulate the environment around the image of them on this plane, it doesn't affect them physically. Ripple sends unstable teleportation energy around the area their image is, but not where they really are. Burn sends a beam of light through their image, but not through them. Clerics, on the other hand, are able to access their plane through spells because of the nature of their spells, just as Moon Mages are able to access the plane of probability through the nature of our spells and abilities. And just as bless allows a cleric to "loan" that ability to another guild, our enchantments can "loan" that access to the plane of probability to another guild, but either way, if you're not in the right guild, you're not going to tap the other plane without help.

My two cents

very interesting Karish.

Tkt does work on some non-corporeal undead but, as was mentioned by Karish, doesn't affect others for some reason. I do hope we have an answer as to why it doesn't sometime, as it has been mentioned a few times now.

It is true that clerics have been rather cut out of tm learning from non-undead or evil creatures since Hand of Tenemlor disappeared. I hope that the cleric team bring this back or some similar spell in it's place soon.

well as far as in my view spirits aren't a projected image more of trapped and tortured souls that their body has gone off to the void but their essense has stayed around.

Since these spirits are considered cursed, the imbued power of holy weapons can distort their presense and attack them, because instead of actually slicing them with metal your cutting them with a thin piece of holy energy, the blade actually never touches them, just that flashing light.

As far as how your able to parry or even defend with your armor thats purely OCC, because otherwise without PFE and parry niether your armor nor your parry or shield defense would ever be able to block them negating the majortify of your defenses, which would severely hinder everyone but clerics.

that is ofcourse my view

but as for defending from em.. if they passed through your weapons/armor.. they would still pass through your skin/muscle/natural armor the same way... possibly hitting the spirit <which is what i think undead should do anyway.. pure spirit hunters..

why would they hurt your body? They can't/don't feed off of that.. it's all about the spirit.. heh
