I understand thoughtcasting over long distances should be difficult, but instead of making it near impossible over the length of say, Ratha to Crossing, could you just make it cost alot of mana? I capped the spell (albeit with some leakage) and couldnt manage it with close to 700 PM and 600+ harness.
The issue is bottom end too, it has to do with the entire strength per mana invested in the spell. One simply doesn't get enough distance out of the mana we put in.
WIth savant primary just below that harness and just under 40 mana (evidently I backfire at 40), I can't reach crossings from shard. I consider this a reasonable use for a 50+ moon mage, and reasonable expectation.
Hope to see a significant uptweak to the distance we get per mana point invested into the spell.

Ok well I guess it was Ratha to Shard that I was attempting, heh. I guess that may be a little difficult but I could get a mirror out there so not being able to thoughtcast kinda bugged me. If thoughtcast isint supposed to go that far then I guess that's the breaks but I'd really like to be able to get a message out to people that far even if it costs me half+ of my attunement.
I am inclined to believe that the same general horribleness with distance cacluations that played havoc earlier with moon gate are again rearing their ugly heads.
I hope you guys have put that on, Major pain but major Necessity to fix. Very important for all future developments as well.

have so far been unable to thoughtcast from Shard to Riverhaven, casting at the maximum I can, this is with master level pm. The range of Redfers thoughtcast is at present hardly further than a k-gweth channel.
While it's hard, Redfers can still open a gate from Shard to Therenborough, holding a lot of mana, but thoughtcast backfires at what seems quite low levels.
For a spell that is far more ic than using IM's, this seems a pity and I would echo Galford in saying that I wouldn't mind the mana cost if I could at least get a message to travel a decent distance.
I will mention that Redfers can open a mirror from Shard to M'riss without too much difficulty.

Any time someone mentions problems with a spell that acts over a distance between Shard and anywhere north of the Gondola I cringe. The area between the gondola and Leth Deriel is incredibly buggy as far as distance is concerned, IMO.
