You can't mount while in water, but you can ride around all you want.

yep... my warhorse eats them crocs good. You still get wet though. So I dont know if blood worms will get ye or not.

Crocs is where I was able to dismount but not mount, actually.

And I didn't get wet until I dismounted :D
