<<On a aside note from the last poster mounted horse combat sinks and uless they plan on changing it, its something you really don't want to push for.

I have no reason to think that mounted combat won't change. I fully expect almost everything about horses to have major changes. Almost everything in this game seems to change eventually. The changes are usually good in my opinion.

<<3) Horses should be able to go in almost all the hunting grounds save ones where its obvious they can't go (undershard, over the barricade in Rock Trolls exc.) Why it is they can't go into Darkmist or Pards/DP's and such is byond me and very very bad.

The areas that it makes sense at could provide great career opportunities if designers keep this in mind. Allow for PC's to open up stables next to such places. The Rock Troll barricade would be a perfect place for a stable to be easily set up.

>I feel this way partly due to all the fantasy books I've read I would imagine.

<chuckle> Well, I've been known to want to throw a lot of fantasy books across the room because of how messed up the 'horses' were.

>I feel the Paladins should have a stronger bond with their horse and have the knowledge that allows them to train their horse better than most. The combination of these two should allow the horse to help when they are not mounted WITHOUT (That's the big perk, IMO) having to signal the horse to help.

Ahhh, I think I see where the problem lies. It is far, far easier for a less experienced horseman to get a well trained horse to do something from the ground than from their back. On top of this, in DR horses are usually trained by other than the rider.

Riding a warhorse or even a horse trained for a sport like polo is nothing like dealing with a mechanical, like a car or motorcycle. You don't conciously give a command for every maneuver. It's far more like dancing. If both partners are very good, it's extrordinary, but a good dancer can do far more alone than having to deal with poor dance partner. <g>

From reading this, it is obvious we just have 2 different view points of how the horse system should be in DR. I'm not looking to make a horse system perfectly realistic (This is a fantasy game after all). Close to realistic, but not perfect. I'll give 3 reasons why I believe my view point is not out of character for DR and therefore at least one possible option for horses. Your viewpoint is a valid viewpoint, but just not the one I prefer.

1) I think mounted horse combat is something that really interests a lot of people.

2) Also, there is no evidence that Paladins in real life or fantasy are the only ones that used horses in mounted combat. They are just traditionally what people think of when you say mounted combat, men in metal armor charging at other men.

3) The fact that horses are trained by so many different guilds in DR illustrates that many people in DR are accomplished horsemen.
