While these 'pads' are going through their testing phase, could I recommend it not be called 'pads'.
Namely, 'pads' imply that the paper is somehow attached to the pad, and with origami, you wouldn't want to rip the paper from the pad, and if it was somehow 'glued' you wouldn't want one edge to have sticky residue.
Here are some other naming suggestions.
a stack of (color) origami paper (generic)
a quire of (color) origami paper (quire = 24, 25 sheets)
a ream of (color) origami paper (ream = any amount, normally 480 - 500 sheets)
These all describe a collection and do not normally imply it being attached to each other or a binding.
Thanks!

<<Perforation does wonders.>>
Along with glue, you wouldn't want perforations either - it can make one edge jagged.
Most origami paper are sold in packages of seperate sheets, either plastic wrapping holding it together, or in a container/case. Personally, I've never seen origami paper in a pad form.

I think you're getting into that area of "realism vs. playability." For the sake of playability, how about you leave them called PADS, and imagine that they're held magically at one end? OR you can just pretend that in Elanthia, a pad is the same as a ream, just another name for a package. :) Nitpicking it to death won't get us the paper grouped together!

Why would you have to do that? It's not done being coded yet, so NOW is the time for changes made to make it more logical. Why would you want them to release pads of paper when it's not something that makes any sense (I agree with Veii) and then just have to go back and change it later? Is it THAT big of a deal to change it to a stack or ream to have it make more sense?

I suppose I should answer this, though I'm not sure you're arguing the topic of this thread (or you're trying to introduce a different topic into this one); Here goes:
<<For the sake of playability...>>
I'm not sure what you mean by playability here, changing the name (hopefully) wouldn't change the way it works.
Unless you mean the different letters you need to type to refer to the 'collection':
>get pad
vs.
>get ream
My reasons for suggesting a name for the 'collection' has already been stated at the start of this thread.

Who says it has to be glue?
It could be a rubber-like resin that binds the ends of the sheets but a gentle pull is all that is necessary to dislodge them and because of the substance's low adhesiveness there's no residue, it's the substance's high cohesiveness that was holding them together.
I would imagine it to be somewhat like soft wax, but more cohesive.
Or, for that matter, the "pad" is indeed a stack but bound together (therefore a pad) by a simplistic butterfly clamp at one end. Removing a sheet entails loosening the clamp, dislodging the sheet then tightening the clamp. Since that is merely a matter of messaging, it's not necessary but would be nice if the GM's included it.
Could even be used for an interesting side effect ... use the last page and you are left with only a clamp, like when finishing a drink and being left with a glass. Perhaps the clamps could even have some fun use later (perhaps binding our own papers together?). Or they could just add messaging when taking the last sheet that you toss the clamp aside, like is also used with some objects such as drinks or whatnot.

Dears... don't squabble.
I use the term "pad" loosely because it's functional when talking about what the item does. What you'll actually get in game is an envelope of with origami paper in it. Since it's not in final release form yet (hence some changes may still be made), I'm reluctant to speak too much about specific details. But currently the noun is "envelope", which is how I normally see origami paper sold. You'll be able to see how many sheets were originally in the envelope (packages are marked), and how many sheets are left. At the moment, packages are set for 10, 25, 50 and 100 sheet increments for purchase. Please note you will not be able to put paper in the envelope, only take it out. When the envelope is empty, you'll be able to destroy it so we don't build up clutter. And of course, like just about everything I code, if you STUDY the envelope you'll see the list of verbs that can be used with it. No, despite temptation, I didn't include random papercuts :)

PS -- if you have suggestions for fluff verbs, I'm always willing to consider ideas :)

Oo.. how about:
UNFOLD ENVELOPE - turns the envelope into another piece of origami paper!

You knew someone was going to suggest that didn't you? :)

Meriel,
I'm not sure if you've answered this or not but to me, a really important point is, the paper in the envelope, will that count as 1 item? Or if you have an envelope with a 'pad' of 100 papers will that be 101 items?
Thanks for all your great work with origami it's very much appreciated!
