I'm ready to start folding Silverfish, but I am not having any luck in finding where to get it. The folks I have asked either didn't know, or the instructions they had they purchased from a travelling merchant. I was told some 'think' it might be on Mer'kesh.

I don't want to island hop looking for these instructions, just due to the amount of time that would take. So, if anyone has a Silverfish Instruction they wish to sell, I'll pay 20 plats for it. Who can pass up a deal like that? I got the coin, you got the goods.

If that doesn't work, can someone positively direct me to where Silverfish Instructions are sold?

Thanks

I ain't? I must just imagining all those folks instant messaging me.

Email works as well if it seems our times online are not matching. We can work something out. Also, there are ways in game to locate folks.

You might be set to be 'invisible' to people not on your buddy list. Can't remember the exact location to change that...where ever your privacy options are, I guess. ::grins::

I'll e-mail you then. Sorry, but I was too tired last night to bother with finding someone to locate you. I typically read the boards right before I shut the computer off and go to sleep.

That's what I figured was happening.

You make a fold in your paper, but it doesn't come out quite the way you planned.

So... what's the deal on me still getting that on occasion? Sometimes as often as twice per silverfish.

30 agil, 239 mech. That puts me a couple of ranks beyond "eyes closed":

You glance at the silverfish instructions, and recognize this as a very easy project. You could probably fold it with your eyes closed; it certainly wouldn't be any kind of a challenge. You think it fairly obvious where the first fold would go.
Roundtime: 3 seconds.

Is it normal to fumble this much after eye's closed? I swear I didn't have these kinda problems when I was in the upper ranges of fish, dolphin and ship. Perhaps I'm just going crazy?

I get this occasionally on dolphins, which I'm in the 'eyes closed' range for. I think there's probably a random roll involved and I just get unlucky now and then :)

That's what I'm thinking as well. Just like it's possible to finish folding something that you get the 'no bets' or 'a little sticky' messages for. It'll just take several minutes to get a lucky roll and complete each fold.

Is your mech lore bewildering or above when this happens?

Best answer I can offer is "Sometimes". I'd have to actually watch it but my mech is usually hanging around the very muddled+ range of mind states when I'm folding. But that woulda applied to the other istructions I was using that I don't remember experiencing this with as much <shrugs>.

I use it too. I've also given out the link a few times so that other people here in plat know where to look. It's helped a lot :)

Your calculator miscalculates in a lot of places.

ex: According to the chart, 270 effective mech = eyes closed for ship. Your calc lists it as pretty sure.

455 = probably for mouse. Your calc puts probably at 451.

You're absolutely right. It doesn't strictly follow Apu's chart.

Why? I made modification to Apu's formula (which is mentioned in the opening paragraph). The reason is because some people have told me their experiences with origami which lead to me changing the formula.

If you have any personal experience that would go against what my calculator has told you, I would appreciate it; and hopefully try to work it into my formula.

But in any case, the origami calculator will give you a ball-park figure, even if it isn't exact (and unless you have access to the formula, it won't be). There's also a randomness to folding origami; all I can hope to do is point you in the right direction.

Use my calculator! Whee!

Many thanks to Veii (and Apu for his original data compilation). I've been bugging everyone for their stats now so I can figure out what instructions to buy 'em.

So does this mean that when I release 20 new sets of instructions and change the formula, it's going to tick EVERYBODY off?

It's going to tick every origami user off. We're going to leave and take 10 of our premium friends with us! You could always leak the formula you are going to use later. It doesn't give away any CURRENT in game secrets, and you would have a hundred new best friends. Win-Win situations are wonderful, don't you think?

That's horrible!

It might upset me enough to make me to break things.. or not break things.. or break things and not tell them that they're broken (which ever is worse).

Ha!
