Just a thought. Kinda like a cross between barbarian and thief. Big thing for them will be brawling, given special spells and moves. Learn like new kicks or slams with respected circle. need pletny of agility , strength dicipline. Shadowy of course, have to uphold alot of honor. Big thing is too implement some cool brawling stuff, like sspin kicks throws and such. These can be like spells for them
maybe an easy way would be have them hve chants or roars that allow them to do the bigger move<slams, powerkicks> Then cool ninja weapons too.

oh and can't use any bows or crossbows, kinda like real ninjas are anti-gun. B/c like it isn't using the powers of the body. or something. I said spells, but meant like chants or roars type things that inable them to do more outstanding things with there bodies in brawling and what not. Primary weapon is brawling. Have special clothes, spiked elbow/knee pads, gloves, helms....that infict extra damge when used by a ninja and their inhieghtend brawling skills. Don't necessarily have to be a ninja, maybe call it something else. but ya'll get the point. Hope ya'll think this is neat or i may just be short bus

Only problem is putting that into a game that wasn't designed to have it. If you look at brawling, as is, you can easily gain balance and position while creaming an enemies balance. You cannot however, deal massive blows to anything with an armor level that's alittle less than 50% of your brawling ranks. Kinda like a 1:2 ratio of armor to brawling just to hurt something very little. Plus, their are not many defense systems that protect against this, so it'd be adding a whole new attacking mode, without a defensive skill for it. (which is basically what would happen if a ninja ended up in medievil England anyhow)

Heck, in history didn't Ninja use anything and everything as a deadly weapon? Sword, knife, throwing star, bow, crossbow, rope, pointy stick, left pinkey toe.....

No. That's the hollywood stereotype, not historical Ninja (btw, there is no 's' on the end of the plural form of any Japanese word). They aren't/weren't warriors, they were spies and assassins. Throwing stars, btw, are not a weapon designed to kill... they were thrown at an enemy to distract them and give the ninja a chance to get away.

Ahh, I never said that they were mighty warriors of the battlefield, however. Just that they could kill with whatever was handy. Leave the mighty warfaring to those silly samuri. Hehe.

<<Unless they were poisoned, which they frequently were.>>

That's a little inaccurate. Throwing stars were usually created from salvaged metal, often rusted. Why waste time and herbs on poisons when tetnis kills just as well? If a throwing star made you bleed, the chances were high you'd suffer no ill effect except the momentary pause the threat of poison in your system would give. Enough time for the ninja to, hopefully, slip away.

Ninja were, however, fond of poison (particularly in the form of darts, either thrown or shot from a blowgun) when they were asked to complete an assassination. So the whole anti-gun stance isn't entirely accurate. Ninja are more..."traditionally bound" than anti-gun.

Before you go an accuse ninja of killing people willy-nilly, you should know that a samurai would be more dishonored sheathing his blade unquenched in the blood of his enemy than he would being killed by a poisoned throwing star. Guess which method the ninja preferred.

Sorry, just a thought? Ninja's weren't anything. This is all made up from games. Ninja's were just mysterious martial artists that were developed in Japan from Samurai's. So, what they are and did doesn't matter. There was no real history on Ninja's, just that they wore masks while they fought. Thats it.

Plus, that's all we'd freakin' need, a guild of assassins, for all the wonderful snerts to join. One that capitalizes on the fact that ranged is too useful compared to other weapon types (cancels two of your defenses and you never have to come to melee) and that players cannot themselves cure poison unless they are empaths. Oh boy! I can't wait... Can you?

-Zak, who's not quite being mean, but knows that there aren't enough honorable people to fill that guild (I mean, who aren't happy right where they are, of course <winks>)

How about a monk/brawler type guild. Magic guild using physical mana like barbs and thieves. Brawling would be their speciality. And while don't quite know how feasible this would be, but they wouldn't wear armor. In fact they'd be punished by the guild leader for wearing armor, in the same way barbs are punished for accepting magic. Instead, they have a natural armor that'd grow as their stats grow. Either a toughened skin, or maybe some sort of personalized force field. The ability to walk on water for short periods of time as a physical mana power. Short-range teleportation(during combat, like teleporting from missle to melee and back again) Powers that granted claws. Danger sense powers that granted bonuses to evasion.

I don't think that not wearing armor is feasible but I think this will be great when bone and cloth armor come out

No offence, but without even reading the ideas here, I've heard multiple ideas in reference to Asian culture already shot down. Examples have included Katanas that are no longer permissable items (to have items altered to rather). That and the fact that anything sort of stealth related, which is what Ninja's are entirely about (Ninjistu basically centers around the idea of taking out opponents while moving in stealth, I've taken it, I know), would be related to the Thieve's guild since they are deamed the masters of stealth.

I agree. We already have a ninja guild--talk to Kalag if you're interested.

As to having "taken" ninjutsu, there are a hundred different conceptions about what ninjutsu "should" be, and a hundred different schools, teaching styles, martial arts styles, based around it. Most of them have no basis in fact or in historical accuracy. Just as most portrayals of ninjutsu and ninjas in movies, TV, and other media have no basis in fact or in historical accuracy.

Ninjas were just plain assassins and spies, nothing more, nothing less... They might use stealth, they might use subterfuge, they might use poison, whatever happened to get the job done. Very, very similar to our own Professional Layabouts.

Actually, Ahmir, many Ninjas believe in esoteric, one might even say magical, methods.

There is a story of a modern Ninjitsu master...

There was a gathering of black belts. The master had said that he had an almost 6th sense about danger. So, one of the black belts decided to test him, and brought a gun to the gathering, hidden in his clothing. As the master (grandmaster, that is) was lecturing the students, it's said that the black belt had more or less stopped thinking about the gun, but the moment the black belt thought about the test, the Grandmaster stopped in his tracks. Glanced at the black belt. Pointed. And said, 'You wouldn't even be able to draw it.'...

Regardless of the veracity of this relatively ridiculous (sorta) story, the truth of the matter is, that the students tend to believe it, or atleast tell it.

There's also stories of grandmasters who fight off gangrene, that jump horizontally back and forth, off a cliff and then back to it.. So forth..

It would sorta be nice if the thieves' guild had a SECT like this...

But strictly speaking, thieves aren't so much ninjas (as MOST play them) but perhaps more estoeric assassins or bandits. Like the Arabian thieves from 1000 nights or what not...
