Can we please get the spellbook shop left in town please? It really needs to be a permanent thing.

But the shop isn't a shop, it was a merchant. Maybe he will set up a permanment shop sometime, but I think this is more fun.

:P It's only fun if you already have a spellbook. For those of us who really really really REAAAALLLLY want one (and don't have the money yet!) it's kinda harrowing. When will the merchant be back? Will I be around? Will I have the money? How long do I have to GET the money? What will I have to DO to get the money. ::fret::

no, i want a different sort of shop on Aesry.

I think it would be rather nice to put the spellbook merchant on the Moonmage island. Right now there is little reason to travel there, and none at all if you're not a Moonmage. So flesh out the island a bit. :-)

I think that's a bad idea. The spellbooks were a WM project expanded for all..... I think at least some consideration to its root should be shown so as to place the merchant in say the Fortress or by the Volcano.

Correct me if I am wrong. A Warrior Mage project that the Cleric GM did? Sounds like it is everyone's project, not just one guilds. They just gave Warrior Mages first chance to test it out for them. Please correct me if I am wrong, I could be, and usually am.

P.S. I vote for the Moon Mage Island.

Yeah, I'm really sure that this wasn't designed for war mages, we just got the joy of having it first.

Well, you asked for it. Spellbooks were under development for years under GM Brandywyne (WM liaison under GM Athrian, the second warrior mage guru) before your cleric guru finally took pity on us and finished it. The only reason that had to happen is our staff kept disappering into the night, and spellbooks were too cool to let go.

that's just like saying that horses were designed "ONLY" for paladins.

what difference does it make who it was originally designed for? it's a "cool" enough system it was implemented for everyone to use. WMs just got first crack at it, just like WMs got their "new" reqs implemented first 'cause the first player to over 100th was a WM <galain>. Everyone else is gonna have "dibs" too, so everyone gets a piece of the pie.

Although I'd like to see a "critter book" for Barbarians <that would be available for others as well--sort of like the beastiary, except more details: skinnable? undead? etc>, and a "handy book on types of traps book" for locksmiths <that would be available for others as well> along the same lines.

The only difference it makes is that it would make slightly more sense to have the shop in a warrior mage themed area, rather than a moon mage themed area. Not saying that other guilds shouldn't have access to it.

yes, but its an island that is "relatively" convenient--in that if you are on ratha, you can hop over to that island via the perma-moongate on the 3rd tier--or take the nightsky over--also,just because there's alot of themes of a particular guild on a certain island doesn't mean no other guilds things are welcomed. Look at Aesry for example. The theme if you look around is Very clerical. Yet does that mean rangers aren't welcome there? hardly. The island is ranger "heaven" for the training of certain skills.

So an island thats begging for business? put it there.

That island could use mucho development. Other shops. A bank. Etc.

Not 100% certain... but I think the entire island is owned by the Moon Mage guild... just talking IC facts here... so I can't see other guilds setting up outposts or really much non Moon Mage development... though I agree Taisgath could use development.

And what about the people who don't want to go to some god forsaken island to have to repair their spellbook or pick up supplies?

I agree that it'd be nice to have there be a permanant shop, although I don't really care where it is. However, just to digress from the thread...:P

With a little luck, you would never even need to step foot on a boat if the shop was on Taisgath. First, you get yourself moon gated to Theren and have a moon mage use the turtle to get you to Throne City (or get a moon gate directly there). Then, you get a Heritage House moon mage to use a different turtle to take you directly to the island. No boats. Tip the nice moon mages a little coin for their trouble (and hopefully to stick around long enough to turtle you back) and voila, quick trip and no boats...

So, if it's going to be on an island, and you hate sea travel, you definately want to lobby for Taisgath or Ratha!
