I am wondering if just using your spellbook damages it. Mine is now unreadable and I have kept it in it's case when I am not reading it. It worked last night when I was reading it indoors, now it doesn't. I always check the weather before using it outside, but I normally use it inside. I haven't seen one message saying that it's been damaged. I thought I would ask here before I assisted to see why it is now unreadable. I do know that I have used it alot and that the pages have been discolored for a bit now, they are still just discolored when I look at them. I as well didn't see any messaging about it getting damaged before to get it discolored, the only time I have is the day I got it when I stowed it for a second to be able to put the bloodlock on my case, oops.

Man, I've been taking this thing soooo for granted. I am going to have to sit and listen to classes for endless hours now to be able to circle again. Nooooooooooo!

Is it that the spellbook itself is damaged, or are you injured?

I know from experience that if you have any degree of head or eye wounds or scars, at all, you cannot read a spellbook.

Might want to get an empath to check just in case.

Not cause I am injured, when I try and read or study it, it says the pages are warped and such. Does the spellbook case have to be closed?, I never close it. Perhaps it gets hurt with no messaging when it's raining outside and I am inside?, not sure, but I sure would like to know.

My spellbook is scuffed, and I never close the case. It's still perfectly fine, for whatever it's worth.

I haven't noticed any dirty pages, either. Maybe you're just dirty! Hee, <duck> Sorry. That is odd.

I never close my case and my spellbook is in perfect condition still. On the other hand I NEVER leave it on the spellbook slot, since i use it for scrolls and misc stuff all the time.

Do you CLOSE your spellbook before putting it away? Just a thought....

My spellbook got damaged pretty much the first night from testing the WAVE/WAVE <target> verbs.

At worst you'll need to wait for Vhiskaar to return. He's able to repair them, for a fee.(Mine was around three platinum kronars, I believe)

Yes I always close my spellbook before putting it back in it's case. What I have been doing is closing it, closing the bloodlock, locking it, putting it in it's case and then putting the case in a container. Not closing the spellbook case is all I can think of. That or too much use damages it perhaps? Maybe the rooms in Ratha I've been using aren't coded correctly?, both are certainly indoors, the inn for one, and the building in which you train strength. But if they weren't coded correctly I should have recieved messaging saying it got damaged? I really don't know, but I sure wish I did so I could at least warn others as to why it's been damaged beyond being able to be used.

I've really no clue why it's been so damaged, I am starting to think I won't know for sure till the wizard comes back (if I even know then). I really should have trained up music at the same time for my reqs, as having to rely on something like a spellbook in a way is sort of foolish if something happens to it, as has. Tis a good learning experience though and I'll chalk it up to such.

I'd be careful if you are wearing more than one case, Beliel. I had my moonmage put it in the wrong case once and it got damaged just from not being in the actual spellbook case. I noticed something making an odd noise and sure enough my spellbook was getting damaged. I know for certain that it's not from leaving your spellbook case open.

Thanks Barimor, though I have no other cases on me, wasn't wearing my case either, always put the spellbook in it's case and then into my satchel. If it's not from use, leaving my spellbook case open, or from weather damaging it while inside...that would leave no options that I can think of as to why it won't work. It's in the vault till the travelling wizard comes back though, I can't read or study it so no point carrying around a bunch of dead weight.

I do thank everyone for the reply's. I am not convinced I actually know why it is damaged beyond being able to use it. Perhaps they could add a way to see what damaged them at some point. That's the worst thing for me, really having no idea how it was destroyed so when I get it repaired I don't know what to avoid.
