Spellbook state of repair and discolored pages? on 10/13/2003 11:47 AM CDT

I've a few questions about spellbook maintenance if any feels up to it. First, my spellbook's in pristine shape and my spellbook pages are discolored? I don't remember them ever being discolored so I'm a little worried, but the book's in good condition, or are the pages and cover separate things? Second, I don't look at it in hostile weather, but I do swim with it closed in it's case. Is the case waterproof? And the crystal, do I need to do anything to activate it or does it activate on it's own. It's fully charged. Basically, am I doing something wrong? The pages are discolored and this worries me? (am I dripping on them when I come out of the pool and study it?)

The spellbook has been carefully bound in black ironwood, which is in pristine condition and is beaded along the edges with some silver Moon Mage Guild crests. Bold calligraphy inlaid in graceful silver leaf scrawls dramatically over the black ironwood cover.

An opalescent triple moon bloodlock has been attached to the spellbook. Two silver bindings hang loosely off of either side of the book's cover. Moons of blue and black grace the front, with the chalky red stone in the back.

A platinum dragon's claw socket has been inset in the spellbook's cover, just below the title. A hafaltu-veined kuldaez crystal rests in the relentless clutches of the platinum dragon's claw.

Discolored pale ivory vellum pages bearing glossy dark crimson calligraphy fill the thick spellbook. It is currently open to the table of contents.

I've swum a lot with my spellbook in its case--it's still perfectly fine. and I read it in the rain, with the crystal on (It's invoke, by the way) and still no damage.

The only time my spellbook was damaged was when I accidentally put it into a casket instead of my case.
