At the request of a player I was able to get permission to modify the teaching system. You will now be able to stop teaching a single student in your class.
I should be making this change live within the next hour. Let me know if you find any problems.

I expect to see less AFK listeners in our guild now.
Teaching... on 06/29/2000 11:48 AM CDT
Sometimes everything just comes together.
I have been trying to get some work done on teaching for a while now, but have had troubles getting the right folks in the right place to do so. Luck would have it though, that there has been a change in ownership of teaching. While the staff is looking for someone to take over that system, I was given the nod by GM Brigdha to proceed with updating that code. :)
So, Im pleased to announce that players with advanced skill in teaching, will be allowed to teach more students. Im not going to give numbers on when additional students appear. Im sure you will have that figured out before the end of the day.
Certainly this change will be of benefit to the entire realms. Of course Clerics and Empaths are two guilds with heavy teaching requirements and stand much to gain.
We have something else in mind here at the end of the month as well, so if all goes well, you wont even have to count this work as your "thing" for the month.
I want to stress that I do not own the teaching system, so I can not make changes at will. To be honest, Im quite busy with what I have now and wouldn't want it. :)

Preaching=Teaching? Sometimes... on 08/10/2000 09:37 PM CDT
Preaching has just undergone some major reworking. One of the changes you will find is that preaching will now in the proper circumstances give some teaching experience. Exactly what those circumstances are, will be up to you to determine. Ive decided to let you folks test and figure it all out, and post the results yourselves. (I have more fun this way.)
Additional changes that will be obvious...
1) Only one person can preach in a room at a time.
2) You can not TEACH a class while preaching.
3) You can not LISTEN to a class while preaching.
4) Preaching will give you a sermon roundtime. This is not a RT in the sense that you can do nothing else, it is just a forced pause between preaches. This sermon roundtime varies depending on number of lines.
As to the other things that apply to preaching and teaching experience, I leave that for you to discuss with each other.
Enjoy.

Chipping away at those everyday clerical hardships.
