Well, as it turns out we ended up releasing 3 things instead of the two I mentioned when I announced the meeting. Harm Evil came through QC at the last moment (major thanks to the magic team for the speedy QC!) and so we tossed that into the mix, as well. I will break the three new additions into separate posts for clarity's sake, and will speak on Harm Evil in this one. Just wanted to toss out one final thanks to everyone who attended the meeting, we are quite pleased with the turnout!
Harm Evil has been changed in two respects:
1) The most obvious change is the new messaging. It now has "crit" messaging rather than that boring ole white light. Alignment will have some minor cosmetic effects on this messaging once Phase III (See post on new devotion system) is live. I'm sure you folks can figure out which parts will vary ;)
2) The difficulty of Harm Evil (IE: How easy it is to put extra mana into it) has been upped ever-so-slightly. This is NOT intended as a downtweak. It was done by player request, because the spell taught very little Primary Magic and Harness in the upper levels. This spell is intended to be used as one of the primary offense spells throughout the Cleric's lifetime, and so it makes sense that it should teach magic better than it did for the elders. So now it will teach a little better, but will be a little harder to stuff that extra mana point into. The strength/accuracy of the spell has NOT changed.
We hope you folks enjoy these additions. If you suddenly notice that the spell is way too hard to cast, please post here and we can evaluate it further. As I said, this was not a downtweak -- it was meant to make PM learning more feasible in upper levels with one of your primary offense spells. It's also not something we will normally do -- changing spells to fit EXP needs -- but again, this is intended to be a spell that is used for a lifetime, and so it just makes sense.
