Heyo,
I wanted to make a few things clear....
MY VISITS
Over the past 48 hours I stopped in and said "Hi" to as many Rangers I could find. I didn't get to say Hi to all of you but this is nothing personal. What I did was look at the Rangers in the game, peeked to see if they were alone, and not in a high volume area. Then I popped in and said hi. I think it is important, and my main goal over the next two months, for us to get to know each other.
I want to make sure that you understand that I did this the fairest way possible. In some cases the Rangers were sleeping and in others I got the feeling I was bothering them, so I left. Other times it was a pleasant 1 to 2 minutes. Anyway the point is no one has any sort of edge in this guild cause they happen to be in the right place at the right time. If people are going to complain about me trying to stay in contact and being visible then I'll stop, it is that simple.
THE RANGER BOARDS
Other than saying hi I asked everyone to keep an eye out on these boards. So let me talk a little bit about the Ranger Boards.
There are no monopolies here. From the top level Ranger to the player that just joined the guild tonight, when I said I wanted feedback from everyone I meant it and not just from the Rangers that post here everyday. Over the next 2 months I will be finalizing my long term plans for the guild. I want to cover as many topics in that time as possible. Everyone has a chance to be heard. Once I feel I have enough input on what I am looking to do I'm going to disappear from the boards for a while and get to work on the hard stuff.
Some of you don't like to post here, that is fine. As I mentioned before we will be having meetings. However, no one should think that they shouldn't post here cause I will only listen to the regulars, this simply is not true. I will be posting every few days with a new topic. If you don't want to post or read other topics that is fine to but I am giving everyone a chance to be heard, it is up to you to decide if you want to give input.
TARRAGON
As you can see Tarragon is still active here. There is no way I could do this without him and I am very happy to have his help and guidance. You have no idea how happy! I just hope I don't kill him with questions. :ducks:
ABOUT ME
Okay some of you know who I was as a Ranger. Let me make this perfectly clear. The ranger I played is dead, in the two years I have been a GM I have brought him out twice; once for a wedding and another time for the Signaling meeting. You will never see him again.
I was a Ranger for about 3 years or so and I made some friends.
Do I still consider some of these people friends? Yes.
Do I still talk to some of these players outside of the game? Yes.
Are these old friends of mine going to get special treatment? NO WAY! Not on your life! In fact they will receive less attention then most.
Let me explain, when I left to become a GM some of the people I knew tried to get me to talk about GM stuff. It didn't happen. Those players I no longer talk to in RL. The players I still considered friends are the ones who never asked me about anything and continued to treat me like a regular person. They knew that I could lose my job here if I violated my NDA and never asked for anything. Those people, are my friends and will remain my friends. They also understand that I have to avoid them in fear of causing problems. I think it is sad but they understand, cause if someone sees me talking to a player that they know I was friends with, they will assume the worse. This is just one of the things that change when you are a GM. <shrug>
Anyway some other stuff.....
I live on the East Coast and I am going to try to make sure the meetings are scheduled at a fair time. Any time I pick is going to give someone a problem but I do understand the problems with time zones. I am an early riser and sometimes work in the morning on DR stuff. These late nights kill me.
As a GM I worked on Quest for the past 18 months. I was the Quest Team Coordinator, I am still recovering from the last quest.
Okay it is late for me.
Thanks,
Jent
