Here's some info off of Treveri's website(http://www.lathrope.com/treveri) that I thought might be useful to us Rangers:

<< I'm being asked if I'm coming to SimuCon this year. Well of course! I have two seminars I'm giving, one on how to create a creature in DR and one on the entire Guild Structure that basically discusses the guilds from conception, to where we plan on taking them in the future. I will be getting in two days before the Con, but alas, GMs and Simutronics has already filled my schedule with meetings!

I'm being asked where I am because I haven't been seen in the game or in the boards. Well, there's a number of things going on there.

A) Many of you have met my son J.R. and know that there is nothing more important in my life than he is. There have been some things come up with him that required I give him much more attention than I normally do. Straight up, he needed me and he wins over you. :)

B) In-game, I have guilds with no GM or acting GMs. 'Nough said there. :)

C) On the general message boards; Simply put, they were taking up way too much of my time. It also became very obvious that some people "can't handle the truth", to steal a phrase. They would rather someone sugar coated it and made them feel all warm and fuzzy. I clearly am not the individual to do that. So while I do still read the boards, I am intentionally staying away from posting unless there is a specific reason for me (personally) to respond.

D) On the Ranger boards - Quite honestly, Tarragon and Taejun are doing just fine addressing the Ranger issues in the boards. I read the Ranger boards regularly. I am, and I always will be a Ranger at heart. But right now, there isn't much going on with the Rangers as we focus on getting tanning and foraging out. And I have other areas of the game that are demanding my attention. Every Ranger knows how to contact me directly if they need to, so I am very comfortable letting the T-Team handle the boards right now.

E) Finally, I don't work "in-game" that much anymore. I work primarily in our development environment where we can destroy things without it having any effect on you.

So there you have it. Despite those that would like to see this old warrior just fade away into the bad memories of DR, I am still around and planning to be for some time. :)

"Bad memories of DR?" Certainly not to us Rangers! War Mages and Barbs, maybe...

<< Sniping (5/29/00) - "Sniping" is the phrase that has been giving to the Ranger and Thief's ability to fire and load their bows from hiding. No, this ability has not gone away. It has temporarily been put on hold until I get an issue with the creatures resolved. The bottom line problem is; we have a set method of logic for determining a player's "awareness/perception" for something like this...but with creatures, GMs have pretty much no restrictions on what they can do within the programs they write to drive the creatures, and it is a complicated issue to determine "awareness" for a creature. It very likely may get down to needing to set a default value for awareness/perception based on stats of the creature, and then allow the GMs to modify that value as needed so that we can move forward with this...but I have other more pressing issues to address before I can move forward on this. >>

<< Tanning (5/29/00) - Tanning is moving forward. I know you don't see it from your side, but it is moving forward. It has been in QC (Quality Control) and GM test for some time now, we keep going back and addressing QC concerns and making tweaks here and there that we believe are necessary. Each step brings is closer to release. Will it make SimuCon? I know that is Tarragon's desire, but there is no guarantee.

Foraging Rewrite (5/29/00) - The foraging rewrite is on hold pending the release of the tanning system. Taejun is working with Tarragon on the tanning system (Tarragon is heading up that project). Once tanning is done, Taejun will head up the foraging rewrite, and Tarragon will be working with him on that. >>

Good to see that "old blood and guts" has got everything under control. And yes, Trev, you DO remind me of Patton -- a fearless leader not afraid to share his mind with others.
