Dateline 9/19/2000: Changes to Guild Experience Checks
Basic Weapon Check: An error was found in the logic for medium and high level checks. They were requiring one more level of skill than planned. For example, a Paladin trying to get to Circle 11 needed 34 ranks in a weapon, but should have needed 33. This means you'll need one less rank in a weapon to satisfy the Guild Leader.
Survival Skills Check: Good news & bad news in this area. (1) An error was found in the logic for high level checks. Basically, skills that should have been excluded from the calculation were being included and were causing the skill average to be higher than it should have been. (2) Escape will now be excluded from the skill average. (3) For Rangers & Moon Mages -- Stealing will also be excluded. The result of all these changes is that, for less than 1% of the you, your Survival average will go down at most 4 ranks; for 30-40%, your average won't change; and for 60-70%, your average will go up by 1 or more ranks.
An example:
For a level 11 Paladin with the following:
evasion 29
climbing 17
perception 31
*tracking 00
hiding 13
lockpicking 10
disarm traps 09
stalking 10
*stealing 00
first aid 27
foraging 13
*escaping 02
*backstab 00
skinning 24
swimming 03
(* Backstab, Stealing, & Tracking were the 3 previously excluded skills, and Escape will now also be excluded.)
Old Survival Average: 15 (Total: 188 in 12 included skills)
New Survival Average: 16 (Total: 186 in 11 included skills)
So although there are 2 less ranks in total, because the number of skills has decreased, the average has gone up!
To help you see your skills averages, the experience (EXP) command has been updated to display the average when you look at the Magic, Survival or Lore groups.
