As our world is ever-expanding, we have reached a point where there is a need to make some adjustments to the experience system. I know the mere mention of that makes everyone start twitching. I hope to reassure you that there is not a need for that. I'll provide a quick synopsis of the upcoming changes to the system and what you can expect the impact of them to be.

The goal of the modifications is to address some current problems in the system, head-off some future (rapidly approaching) problems in the system, and to maintain the overall function and feel of the experience system (ie. minimizing player impact where possible).

The changes are as follows:

1) Modifications to the pool size formula.

2) Modifications to the % transferred formula.

3) Modifications to the bits required to rank formula (both before and after 300 ranks).

While the specifics of 'why' these changes cant be addressed (other than they are very necessary for the long-term viability of our world), the 'how will this impact me' can (and will) be discussed.

Given the wide range of ranks and stat configurations, the numbers below will not hold exact for everyone. I am quite certain, however, that these changes will be a positive thing for a large majority of the realms on an individual basis. They are also a very positive (and necessary) thing for the Realms as a whole. Over six months of discussion, planning, and testing have gone into these adjustments and they would not be happening if they were not required to successfully move into the future. The fact that they also bring a positive change for the large majority of the player base is a great bonus.




Below 50 ranks will see a slight increase in time to rank. This time is on the order of a few minutes and will generally be not noticeable since the time required is already quite short.

50 to 175 ranks will see little differences due to the change.

175 to 350 ranks will see a significant decrease in time required to rank and required number of converted bits to rank along with an increased pool size.

350 to 500 ranks will have larger pools and will see little difference in time required to rankbut will need more total bit converted to rank.

Above 500 ranks will start to see increases in time required to rank with the increases being larger at higher ranks accompanied by increasing pool sizes and converted bits required to rank.




Points of interest:

Pool size is (in-general) increased.

The impact of wisdom (on pulse size) is slightly reduced. This change will be most noticeable at very high levels (> 50 wisdom).

The impact of discipline (on pool size) with respect to intelligence is reduced.

Ranks at higher levels (particularly above 400 ranks) will require more converted bits to rank.




The time-frame for these changes is *quite soon*. We are still doing the final QC and testing but wanted to give a heads-up as to what was coming and what could be expected. I know that you will have many questions, so ask away. Some questions wont be answerable but we will certainly provide all information possible.
