Please note Mesmerize, Harawep's Bonds and Hobble in the offensive spell category. A pretty severe penalty involved...

<< Can Someone up there give us some numbers so we can make some long term judgements? What Id like to know is, will being a warrior mage give me any added bonus to casting magic over being a ranger? >>

I can't give out any hard numbers since the planned stuff isn't fully worked out. However, I can estimate. The original fixed evasion penalty for PREP was 50%. Currently it's 5%-50% depending on skill vs. difficulty. What I expect is that most non-attack spells will be in the 0%-30% range while most attack spells will be more like 15%-70%. You really have to be straining your abilities to get the worst penalty, however, you have to be casting something really ridiculously easy to get the lowest. :)

The TARGET evasion penalty is currently a flat 50%. I expect each individual spell will have a base of somewhere from 25% (for Fire Shard and the like) to 100% (for the ultra-whammo nuclear spell of doom) with TM skill reducing that penalty to some degree, but perhaps never below half the base penalty.

So due to the nature of the thing, profession isn't going to be a direct factor.

The range for evasion penalties during PREP falls into one of two possible ranges:

20% - 70% For all targetted spells and other spells categorized as offensive, plus the following: Hypnotize, Confusion, Dazzle, RF, Moon Gate, Static Discharge, Tremor, Thunderclap, Resurrection, Harm Evil, Phelim's Sanction, Aesrela Everild, Smite Shield, Mesmerize, Harawep's Bonds, Hobble.

5% - 38% For all other spells.

Where you fall within that range depends on your PM skill (modified by your percentage of concentration at the time you start prepping) vs. spell difficulty (including extra mana). If you're casting right on the edge of your ability you're going to have the maximum possible evasion penalty, while if you're casting something unspeakably easy you're going to hit the minimum.

The penalty and other balance adjustments for targetting haven't been changed yet and will possibly wait for Atrathien's assessment of TM. :)
