GemStone has them. Why don't we? D-don't you love us anymore...?

But really, I was wondering if there's been any thought to adding weapons that add piercing damage that can be hand/foot-worn? It doesn't seem terribly impractical that they may have spikes of some kind.

On the flipside, has it been thought of [if it's even possible] to have brawling gear that adds a certain type of damage but actually -reduces- another? i.e. razor-edged gloves may cause a decent bonus to slice damage but lower impact due to inability to properly form a fist while wearing them?

Moreso, I was wondering if there any plans to possibly change the layout of brawling weapons so that there are heavier/stronger models. This of course only works well if brawling gear effects RT and has balance/suitability of it's own though, and I'm not sure what most people would think of this.

None of those do what the original poster was talking about.

The original poster was asking if a brawling weapon could reduce impact damage for notably higher puncture (or slice) damage.

True, I was just responding to his first question, whether or not we have them, and what types of damage the ones we have actually offer.

I never asked anything like that though. I was jokingly asking why we don't have Hand Scythes, not brawling gear in general; more so, all of our current brawling gear is very close to exactly the same (handwraps v. gauntlets being the only actual variety, which is minimal).

Unless I'm overlooking a specific piece, I don't think there's any brawling gear that does piercing damage at all currently, despite more than half of them being defined as spikes (moot point, but pointing it out anyways). All of the parts do their jobs quite well, I just think it'd do the skillset some good to give people a little more choice in damage variety.

I never noticed that before, but you are right.

Some wickedly spiked knuckles are a brawling type weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
no puncture damage increase
some slice damage
fair impact damage increase

You are certain that the spiked knuckles are marginally vulnerable to damage, and are in pristine condition.

The spiked knuckles are made with metal.
You are certain that the spiked knuckles weighs exactly 18 stones.
You are certain that the spiked knuckles are worth exactly 800 lirums.

Not a bit of puncture damage on those. You would think that spikes would have puncture, not slice damage increase.

Ironically they are in the game but not considered brawling weapons nor do they act like they are supposed to.

I present to you a katar.

It always boggled my mind that katars are usually slicers.

Never mind that katars in DR are a slice weapon instead of a piercing weapon...

Are katars in DragonRealms modeled after a real-life weapon? If so, which one? (A Google Image search for katar shows a variety of thrusting daggers that are held parallel to the forearm.)

That article goes on to say that curved blades were used in some cases to make them into slicing weapons.

Katars in DR are modeled after katars in real life, the looks on several fest variants make that pretty apparent. Their stats just don't reflect that fact at all. It has always been sort of an anomaly since their introduction.
