Is anyone else having this trouble?
Recently I've been backtraining a few skills in thicket vipers just outside leucros and I keep losing my thrown weapons. Unfortunately what I'm using are blunt weapons which means that they will inevitably have to touch the ground at one point in time. It is absolutely unavoidable.
Once in awhile I inadvertantly leave the room without picking it and run straight back and the item has already disappeared without any janitor warning of any sort. The most recent loss was due to me running a short skinning script to arrange and skin my victim so I had a viper sac and knife in both hands. I tried to pick up mallet, error message saying no free hands but didn't notice it and walked into another room.
Tried to throw straight away, said no weapon in hand, checked inventory and ran straight back. Took 9-10 seconds and the item has already disappeared ans was replaced by a kind GM who informed me to post in the boards.
One possible fix I see is the ability to have a string tied to your thrown weapon that can be attached to your belt or hand and having it dragged along with you when you change rooms. Yes, it doesn't look the best but it is effective nontheless.

Yes, I brought this up a monthly plat meeting last month. I've had this happen a couple of times with my throwing hammers. If you leave the room, even briefly, and return your weapon will be gone, even though all the other junk still remains.

I thought it was kinda funny last time it happened to me, in a sad sort of way. Tons of loot on the ground, gems and coin and junk, and my wireless crapped out RIGHT after a throw. I reconnect moments later, and since it was a disconnect my character would have remained behind until I logged back in, so I could only have been gone for literally one or two seconds tops, right?
No hurling axe in sight. Gems and coins everywhere. Leucros still trying to kill me. Lame!

It's a problem I've always had.
I did a test once. I left one of my throwing mallets on the ground right next to my broadsword. I left, came back soon after, and the mallet was gone but the broadsword was still there. I was in a pretty remote area so I HIGHLY doubt someone came in and took it. Thrown weapons just aren't protected the same as normal weapons, I'm pretty positive about that. My guess is that the GMs don't want the same kind of protection on weapons that will always leave your hand.

I havnt lost a throwing weapon yet (I type this with one hand as the other knocks on my desk) however I expect I've come closer than I would like. Between critters taking lodged weapons when they retreat, janitor taking thrown weapons on the floor, and the price of replacing any of my thrown weapons...has forced me into store-bought spears and hammers. Despite having the good stuff sitting on the vault shelf.

I've not lost any thrown weapons- yet. But I've heard of it happening, especially to rare and/or valuable items. So if I want to train LT I forage up a rock and use that.

I lost a fest hurling axe in swains when I had to drag a stunned/dying empath out and didn't take the time to pick the axe up first. Room had about 8 swains in it piles of junk and loot, and my hurling axe. Was only out of the room for a few moments, and when I came back only thing in there was the bartender. I figure he ran the swains out, then swept all the loot behind the bar.

Hmm.
I've lost one altered throwing hammer, five normal throwing hammers, two festival axes, and one festival dagger.
I have switched from my throwing hammers to the golden tasseled spears in Theren. 40 stones, heavy puncture damage. I have to carry four, but it's a fair trade-off for not caring if I lose them. I've already lost three, though that's probably because they lodge.

I've been using sticking spears since I started throwing with Croegar (since date of conception, couple years ago now). I had a great deal of trouble with loss at first, especially since i couldn't store my weapons well. However, its been more than 12 months since I lost a single spear. Oddly enough, I DID manage to lose a hammer from Boar Clan, an item I used for roughly 3 weeks, and more against Telamont than any critter. Still have my spears though.

Boxes can be used as thrown weapons, so I'd like to add this here as well. Get a full load of boxes from thugs, including 1 in each hand. Make a script to climb the ladder, drop a box, climb down the grating, pick up the box you dropped, and climb back up the ladder. I always found that no matter how fast I was, if the first room in the Crossing sewers was left empty even for an instant, any boxes in that room went poof.
Alternatively, for anyone who faces this or a similar problem, just drag the box up the ladder.
